Pin prick pains in fingers, toes, legs, arms etc.
HI, I am a 36 year old male and have been on atenolol 25 miligrams for about 5 years. I was diagnosed with Mitral Valve Proplapse and heart murmer. I've been having these shooting pains in my left arm daily as well as pin prick pains in my toes, fingers, legs and so on. i also sometimes have numb fingers and hands. Even though I have past heart problems, my doctor recommended a neurologist. Probably because I have had a history of headaches mainly on the right side of my head. I'm not a doctor but my intuition tells me it's some sort of circulation problem from my heart. Anybody else have any similiar problems? Thanks for any help.

It sounds like it could be a vascular (circulation) problem, but more likely neurological (nervous system). The nervous system and nerves are as dependent on a good blood supply as any other system and part of the body, if not more so, so sounds like your referral is on the right track.
Do chase it up though, as these things do go astray on occasions and do keep on at your GP, as it could be serious.
If your already under a consultant for you cardio stuff, then it may be worth consulting them.
An adverse reaction to the medication that you're currently on is another possibility. That said - keep on it until you can get to see any of the above.
I'd look it up to see if it's a known adverse reaction, but about to crash for the night.
Good luck - Andrew.

Thanks very much for your reply. I wasn't sure what GP stands for in your reply though.
