Netti pot

I have been reading the post "My tonsills are broken" and I can identify with much that has been said. But my probs are more general ENT. The specialist said I have chronic tonsillitis and that I should have them out.
My throat has a sort of low grade soreness/scratchy feel all the time. I snore for Britain and then wake up with a cough that any life time smoker would be proud of (except I don't smoke). I also have tinnitus and positional vertigo. I have recently been to an eye clinic and they said my eyes have virtually no moisture at all.
I am sure all these things are connected ... Now to Netti pots. On a course recently a lady told me she had this pot "bit like a watering can" and its used to flush out your sinuses. But i can not find much about them on the net or where i could buy one in the UK. She swears by the way that a netti pot has cured her of lots of similar probs.
Any ideas folks. Regards Kealy

Hi Kealy
Jala neti (nasal wash) is supposed to be good for flushing out nasal passages. You can get neti lota (neti pots) from the british wheel of yoga - they are about £4-5 with postage. their phone number is 0164 2732082.
If you get one I would suggest that you find someone to teach you how to use it properly as otherwise it can cause more problems (due to 'flooding'of the sinuses) - you have to make sure you dry the nasal passages after use. This is done by a breathing practice. I would try and write the instructions but it is better to meet someone face to face who is used to using one.To use make a solution of 1 teaspoon salt to half a litre of warm water.

Thank you Wand for your reply I will give them a ring tomorrow.
I hope it comes with good instructions. Regards Kealy

I have a nasal problem and was advised by my ENT consultant to use Sterimar, which is a 'pure sea water nasal spray that gently moisturises and cleanses nasal passages, to help natural healthy breathing. This can be bought over a pharmacy counter.

Whenever I have blocked sinuses - eg after a cold - I use a solution of warm water and simple sea salt. Not too salty and you just sniff it out of a glass. I find it not only unblocks you but also reduces inflammation and infection. Simple and cheap.
Works for me.
