Jet Lag

Hi Guys
I'm going on a Long Haul Flight soon and wondered if anyone had any top tips to cope with Jet Lag?
Thanks

Hi Sonia
Here is a link to an excellent site with loads of useful information and tips on how to prevent jet lag.

Here is only a little taster of what you will find there…

Common jet lag symptoms like daytime sleepiness, insomnia, disorientation, difficulty concentrating, slowed reflexes, indigestion and irritability can be alleviated by applying specially designeg self-massage technique to your hands, ears and foot.

In addition to using Jet Lag Eliminator, to arrive feeling fresh and relaxed:
- massage both ears on arrival. Massage the entire ear thoroughly, inside and out, spending 2-3 minutes on each ear. (They may be quite sensitive!)
- once you reach your destination, you need to ground your electromagnetic system as soon as possible:
stand in direct sunlight for 10-20 minutes without glasses
walk barefoot on the ground
swim in the ocean or soak in an Epsom salt bath
- try to adjust meal and sleep times to the new time zone before departure.
- cabin noise causes fatigue - use earphones to listen to your choice of music or use earplugs to reduce noise

There is a book but I can't remember the exact title -- might be Avoiding Jet Lag, but I looked that up in Amazon and it didn't show up. If I remember, I'll post the title in another thread. Forgot when you were leaving. You might find it in a used bookstore or library. Slim volume, created by the Argonne Laboratory, with scientific principles explained as to why their system works. It's used by the Pentagon, the US Armed Forces and various govt. officials. I've used it for years and it's the only thing that works for me. It's great because you can plan by Time Zone and travelling eastbound or westbound.
It takes a bit of discipline and you must start three days ahead. No caffeine except at certain times of the day. Alternate days of feasting and fasting, then certain instructions the day of the flight. It REALLY works. I learned the hard way when I tried to skip or change instructions.
I also second the previous poster as to walking in the sun after arrival and pulling on and massaging your ears -- it's full of acupuncture points.

Thanks Guys, I will be travelling West, so the info implies this is easier to deal with. Unfotunately I will arrive at night (after gaining 7 hrs) so the sunlight will have to wait until next day.

I find that I don't suffer much from jet lag when on holidays (whichever direction I travel) because I take my time easy, sleep and eat when I want, getting a lot of daily massages.
The problem is coming back home and trying to work.
