Pain Relief ? can anyone help??
:)
Hi
I have just recently joined, noticed an item on one of the other boards I use, re Betty Shine, and thought I would have a look in.
Its a very long time sime I`ve had spiritual healing, although my friends and cousins have been asking through prayer for help for me, I still need more (is that being greedy?)
Anyway, I have for the past two years had constant pain, caused by osteoporosis, this apparently I`d had for some time, but it had gone undiagnosed until when I was in hospital two years ago for open heart surgery, suring my time there, my spine fractured causing great pain, and leaving me unable to walk properly (now have to use a folding uniscan walking frame, but can only walk for a short distance, any further have to use my wheelchair)
an immediate x-ray in the hospital showed that I`d had a fracture, plus there had already been others , that had been the reason all along for the pain I had suffered (according to the GP, this was being caused by "wear & tear" !)
a bone scan also showed that the ostoporosis was severe, and my hips ribs etc were very thin, I have since had a number of rib fractures, causing again a lot of pain.
At present I am seeing a pain consultant, and have already had two different procedures in the hope of giveing relief, but these have not been successful, had the last one 4 weeks ago, that was called Radiofrequency thermo(could not make out the rest of the word) the idea is to burn out a nerve that has been crushed vetween fractured ribs, it does not look as though this is going to hlp either.
Am taking Oxycontin, every 12 hours (60 mgs morning & 40 mgs evening) pain dies down a bit after the morning dosage, provided I do not move my arms around (this is not possible if I want to live a normal life!!) unfortunately, any little activity, i.e. washing a few dishes, dusting furniture or any small household task, starts the pain off and I have to stop & sit down and wait for it to die down, as the days goes on the pain takes longer to die down, and by around 4pm I am just watching the clock until 7.30pm so I can take the next dosage and get some relief. Trouble is, I do get a bit woozy & sleepy a couple of hours after taking the medication although after having a sleep, the pain does ease, providing I keep fairly still.
I would be so thankful if healing could help me, I see the consultant again in Kan, & I know if I complain about the medication not being sufficient, he will up the dosage and I`m trying to avoid that if I can.
Please help, I do so want to be more active if I can.
I can only spend a little time each day (with lots of breaks) using the computer, it becomes a strain if I don`t stop frequently and rest)

Hi
I have just read your message and am sorry to hear about all the pain you are having. I do not think you are being greedy - we all deserve to live a happy and healthy life. I can only imagine how challenging and difficult it has been for you and you are right in not wanting to take stronger medication from your consultant. Drugs do not reach the cause of the problem and treat only the symptoms.
I work with nutritional theraphy at a cellular level. Through diet, nutrition and supplements we work to repair the health of the cells - where the damage starts. Although everyone is different and we do not make any guarantees we are seeing very good results with all levels of different health issues.
Reducing the inflammation can help the body to heal itself and reduce your pain.
Are you taking any Glucosamine Sulphate and Essential Fatty Acids? Just these 2 could begin to make a difference to you. Let me know if you would like me to send you any information on diet and best supplements to take.
Wishing you all the best and praying that you will get relief from your pain
Sincerely
Marguerite Benentt

Ouch - that does sound like a nasty one!
From what you say, then any pain relief that works for you in the meantime. Have you tried acupuncture?
Ideally long term, then something that will stop the osteoporotic degeneration and stabilise your joints and bones.
I do have a theory on that one, but will have to come back as not enough time at the mo. You can send me a PM, but unable to promise a quick response.
Andrew.

Hi Laura,
I second Andrew with the acupuncture idea. Chinese herbs could help stabilise the condition. Are there any good Chinese herbalists in your area?

Oh I have been silly (not too good yet at using computer-a bit daft me)
I was looking on the wrong board and not seeing a reply thought I had not posted corectly, so entered my plea for help again, please forgive me if I`ve sounded cheeky.
Thank you for the kind answers you have given so far, unfortunately I am very restricted on any medication, because I take warfarin (have two artifical heart valves) it can be dangerous to use herbal things etc. I cannot have any anti inflammatory medication, again this could interfere with warfarin, so am unable to experiment, would have to consult with doc before taking anything, I do take quite a number of other medications as well, as a result of heart surgery, so have to be very careful of any adverse reactions.
This is the main reason I am so hopeful that absent healing of any kind could be more effective
Re food diet etc, I am a very small eater (weigh only 7 & half stone) and I try to eat as much as I can of correct foods, do not eat fatty fries, have only chips once weekly (I do like them and can eat about half a dozen) eat as much fruit as I can, have to be careful do not eat too many greens (again because of the warfarin, too many greens can be harmful) eat fish at least once weekly, lots of chicken/turkey, not large portions, but have frequently, as mentioned, I am not a big eater, prefer lots of small snacky meals. Start the day with a small portion of porridge (in winter) use very little salt) have a light lunch, and small dinner in the evening, in between have cups of tea and perhaps the odd biscuit, I think I am managing to eat a varied diet where I can.
What other foods should I try & eat to hopefully gain a bit of weight?

Hello
I would recommend that as a complimentary therapy you do your reiki one so you can self heal.
Will put you into our healing book too!

Thank you for your suggestion Sam
But what would I have to do to "self heal"??
Bearing in mind, that movements of any kind can cause me pain, I have to be careful that I do not fracture any bones, apparently I can do that by just turning over in bed!! so its difficult to think of what to do

Hello and welcome to HP, though I am sorry to hear of your pain. You asked:
May I suggest Complan, which is a complete meal in itself, it's a powder you mix with water or milk, it can be taken as a meal replacement (it's not a slimmer's one) or between meals. I have low blood sugar and always keep Complan for a quick boost. Available from any chemist, eg Boots, Superdrug.
You could also buy some powdered protein and add that to your porridge, or soups.
You also asked:
If you were attuned to Reiki 1, by a Reiki Master, you would be enabled to channel universal energy through your hands to heal others, hands-on, as well as yourself. Then all you would have to do is place your hands on your own body and allow the Reiki energy to flow. If you wish to read a little more about Reiki, click on the link below to my website, then on the Reiki page. I also give links to other sites which give much fuller information.
Also, of course, there's the Reiki forum here on HP, it's a sub forum under Therapies.
I hope this helps.

I dont know how effective sending healing energy is at a distance, but am doing it anyway hun also you might try this...it might work you never now...
Am very aware of my body's energy and can focus it into a protective shield...wot you do is imagine a bright ball of energy (your fav colour mines purple) and you push all your energy into it making it as bright as you can...the trick is to not force yourself and strain yourself in anyway...but imagine it as gentle pushing...then you release the ball and let it melt over you forming like a second skin...its warm and peaceful...then when your ready you adsorb it into your self letting it soothe the pain away... thats kinda for a whole body pain relief...
the other way is to hold your hands about 1 centimetre apart and slowly move them in small circles...and if you can imagine tiny little pulses running up your arms to your hands...after a few minutes your hands should start to warm up and the space between your hands should to...then you take your hands and place them about half a centimetre above the area giving you pain and let the warmth go through...still try and imagine the tiny pulses going through your arms to your hands...if you have trouble with feeling the heat just rest your hands on the area gently...
Just thought it might help...still sending you healing thought hun
Hang in there

Thank you Aromababy. I will try your suggestion tonight, when I go to bed I will try and viualise as you mention, and hopefully as I sleep. some relief may come.
I do try my best to visualise healing rays coming into my body, but sometimes the pain is so bad I cannot concentrate, at the moment, & from about 3pm today, my rib has been "acting up" I have also taken my painkillers (oxycontin at 7.30) has unfortunately still not taken effect, once the pain starts, it seems to take forever to die away, I must admit I do sometimes feel very low
I had gone to my over 60`s club this afternoon, the first hour was ok, but then I start feeling uncomfortable and by the time my transport arrives at 3.30, my rib just feel like a bad toothache, it has not stopped since, I try and go to my club because for a short time I meet my friends and can have a laugh etc, I try and keep happy whilst I`m there (I never mention any pain, if , I say I`m fine thank you, in the hope that if say this constanly, then I will begin to feel fine!!)
So, I`ll go to bed tonight and try my best to viualise what you have suggested and hope that whilst I sleep aome healing will take place.
Thank you all for your good thoughts and kind words, I am so grateful for any help offered.
