Find a Fleetfeet someplace and go there.
If you have a pronation problem or flat feet like me, you're going to need specialty shoes.

I'm having the same issue, my shoes just started to wear out and it is getting real bad. I think I am going to try the new new balance shoes "zip" or something. I have the cross trainers that are like them and really like how they feel. Nike shoes are a joke, nothing more than a name. I would suggest going with new balance, aasics(sp?), etc. Stretching helps heaps too...

Answer:

Brook's shoes are awesome for shin splints. Mine are so bad that I had to stop basketball in HS because the only way I could practice was to take 8 motrin before.
The Best is their best shoe designed for shin splints, especially if you have flat feet. I suggest going to a store that knows their stuff about running shoes and looking at different styles. But I would highly reccomend Brooks.

Answer:

It all starts with the foot itself.
What type of foot do you have? normal or is it over-supinated/over-pronate or flat footed
Other than that imho I think your relying to much on shoes I would think your overtraining running too much if thats the case or need more calcium in your nutrition

Answer:

are you a pro-nator or supernator? or do you have flat feet?

Answer:

those are to make you jump higher
anyway do you have flat feet, im guessing you do since people with flat feet have a high chance of shin splints

Answer:

nah i dont have flat feet my track team ran aon a concrete track lol only one in the state n i got it then (2 yrs ago) n they never really went away

Answer:

If you go to a place that knows what they are talking about they should hook you up with the best shoe for you for the money. At the Running Room store here they watch how you're running, and get you a shoe that is meant for your running style. But you might have to spend a bit more then $50 for NB.

Answer:

if your arch collapses when you walk (pronation) and your pain is mostly on the medial (inner) side of your tibia, then make sure your shoe has a grey material on the inner side of the arch. This denser material will help absorb the impact much better then the white and softer fabric. These are sometimes called motion control shoes:
Observe the grey material:

I would also suggest icing after running and taking some time off if you can to let it heal (+ stretching, running on softer surfaces, etc...)
