Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!

Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!
Finally convinced my wife to go up into the mountains to my hunting area for a little R&R. The plan was to have a riverside picnic, get in a little hiking on some of my favorite ridges, and to do a little water play.
Aargh! I didn't find out that the camera had a separate setting for outdoor photography until we got back. All pictures are way over-exposed! Nothing but big white rectangles with unidentifiable shadows mixed in.
Also found out, that no matter how much I wish it so - the Dodge Neon is NOT a back-country vehicle. Bottomed out twice, had to pull over and do some minor road side repair to keep going. Needless to say we were not able to get to where I wanted to go hiking, but we still got a chance to play in the river.
All in all, everybody still had fun - my wife fell in love with the area and definitely wants to go camping there some time. Takes about 2-1/2 hours to get there from our house in the Neon, but I can get there a little quicker in my truck (wash-board mountain roads and the Dodge Neon - NOT a good combo). Campsite is in a relatively narrow river valley with mountains rising quickly on all sides. Cell phones do not work here, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Next time though, I'll make sure to get some pictures to share.

I hate that! I ruined heaps of photos by using the wrong settings when I first got my camera!

One trip to MArdi Gras with bad pics convinced me to go digital. I have a Sony T3, it's pocket sized and brilliant.

Answer:

We decided not to bring the rods with us because we figured that the river would be too low to fish because of the draught - we were mistaken.
But still, fun was had by all.

On the way down from the mountain, I came across an accident scene where a motorcyclist had crashed into a deer - the cyclist faired better than the deer, but I think his bike was totalled. :(

On the way down from the mountain, I came across an accident scene where a motorcyclist had crashed into a deer - the cyclist faired better than the deer, but I think his bike was totalled. :( In 1996 one of my co workers had a buddy... He bought some new sport bike... The day he got it he went out at night in the country and opened it up... Got up in the 100-Something range... Hit a deer... Sawed the deer in half, and he shattered a several vertabrae... Crippled for life, in one of those wheel chairs where he has to blow in a straw in order to operate it.
I met the guy after he got out of the hospital and he was crying saying "Why... Why did this have to happen to me."

I mean it's sad and tragic and all... But what the hell were you thinking...
I mean you went out at Night, in the country in September, to an area that had corn fields being cut for cattle feed on one side of the road and a hardwood forest with mixed swamp on the other side of the road... Opened your bike up to ridiculous speeds and just figured things would be okay?
Trust in Allah... But tie your Camel!
