What's the minumum you would date someone before talking about marriage?
I used to think a year minimum, but I want to see if my thoughts are on par with others in here.
My parents took only 4 months (back in the day). For me, it took 8 years because everything needed to be in place first for the both of us before we knew we could take the next step.
Depends on you, your S/O, and your love for each other.
Depends on the age of the person. If they are young, at least 2-3 years becuase young people go through much more drastic changes in personality, and you wanna make sure that you like their final personality. If over 30, a year is enough to establish whether or not you like their personality enough to be with them forever.

My parents met in August, married in May, been together 27 years.
Guess it depends from person to person.
My 2 cents....at least 6 months to a year.
With my parents he proposed to her in 1 month. Unfortunately my father is now deceased but they would be going on 20 years I think.
For me I think a couple years depending on the girl, and how ready we are to take the next step.

there's no right or wrong answer, could be a few months but it could be 10 years, each relationship is different so all you can do is figure it out rationally for yourself, just remember to be RATIONAL!

When I was young my mom told me that after 6 months I should know if I could spend the rest of my life with that person. When I dated it was so I could look for a life partner. So I say after a year of being together and were not talking about marriage your just wasting my time.

but then i met a girl who was older than me and i thought ''damn all my principles gone out the window,''
cause i wouldnt have minded marrying her. but i didnt of course. (yes 19)
but i realised if my thoughts changed because of my strong feelings on this matter im sure they could change onother things, for example time to wait before discussing marriage.
I told my wife she had to finish her apprenticeship to me before I would marry her. Here in Oz its four years. So I had four years to train her (jk), but I said it very early in the peice, and every now and then when she brought it up I would get angry (I didnt want to be pressured.). When I did pop the question it was a complete suprise and it was great. From when we first dated to day of marrage, 4 years, 52 days.

My parents were married 30 years before my mums passing, my wife parents were married on 10 or so before divorce. Its different strokes for different folks, you do whats right for you.
