chest cracking? (serious)

chest cracking? (serious)
Sup guys,
Ive been having these wierd cracks in my chest occasionally when i take a deep breath. It only happens like 8-10 times a day but ill have the urge to take a deep breath and when i do i hear a little crack in my chest and feel it rite in the middle between my two pecs...similar to that of cracking knuckles..theres no pain or anything but it is just rather wierd...its been happening for about a month now. I dont think its a respitory problem of any sort because im running 7 minute miles quite frequently with no pain or problems..Any one experience anything similar to this??

Answer:

had my chest do this for about 2-3 months after bruising the inner wall in wrestling.

Answer:

Well theres a few things it could be, but my first guess would be if your intercostal muscles (the ones that hold your ribs together) are very tight and knotted up then when your ribs expand they could make the popping sound that your talking about. This usually happens when people work their chest alot and their backs not near as often so they end up overly tight in the front and their shoulders are typically protracted (pulled forward instead of back with your chest out).

Answer:

Happens sometimes. Totally normal.

Answer:

Happened to a friend of mine. It was cartillage in his case and he bought a bunch of fish oils. Now it's fine.

Answer:

thx for replys...will it go away by itself or should i do somethign for it??

Answer:

well that would depend on what is causing it for sure. If its what I said about intercostals then continue to take deep breaths and expand your chest/rib cage as much as possible to loosen them up. Also, one way to tell if this may be the case is to use your finger to put pressure in between your ribs and if any spots feel tender and hurt then push as hard as you can on those with just 1-2 fingers while breathing in through your chest. It will take awhile before this fixes the problem but continue to do it, basically what you would be doing is seperating muscles fibers that are stuck together and it will hurt.

Answer:

I had the same problem a while back and never did anything about it. It went away after a while.

Answer:

whys this in the misc

Answer:

I have something similar. Just a few times per day. It's been happening since I hurt myself lifting about 3 years ago. There is a nice bump right in the center of my chest that you can feel (but not see).
