Last night someone said to me, "I have learn to not worry about the things I am worried about, because 85% of the time, they never happen."
Point is, there will be no abuse. Probable cause is what they are searching for. There will no doubt be some early mistakes, but those are just that - mistakes. There is no sinister intent here.
On a side note, wouldn't be cool to use this technology to gage female behaviour? imagine this guy saying what you just said. that's how i saw it. if you dont know who this man is, the humor may be lost.

Quick story, I've seen someone get arrested by HS at the airport. It took lot of BS for HS to do it. THe guy was going to be late for his plan and the ticket counter wouldn't sell him a ticket because the plane was about to take off.
SO he tries to walk through the checkpoint with out a boarding pass hoping he can buy a ticket at the gate and get on the plane before it leaves. The yells at the HS guys to let him through but they won't because he doesn't have a ticket.
He yelled for about 10 minute before he decide to just rush the gate. Of cousrse once he did that they arrested him.
Cool, hopefully liberals don't screw it up with some nonsense about profiling

People abuse power everyday, why would this be any different? Correction, people with free time and useless jobs - like Congresspersons - abuse power. People in the middle of a workday, with work to do, do not. Though they do usually steal the paperclips. Security will be working all the time, so they will have no interest in abusing it. No amount of pressure from the top will get them to misuse the equipment for spying on innocent people. It never has been that way, and it never will. The way to misuse this equipment on a power trip, will be to target a political opponent, get an unused peice of equipment, bring it to where the opponent is, set it up, and then use it on him, then embarrass him. Random innocent people never get caught in this kind of thing.

I'm more interested on exploiting it......With a modded scan-check you can get Visa "blue" numbers....

On a personal note I think its a bunch of big-brother bullshit that will be used to make sure you go to work, pay your taxes, and forget everything you heard about genetically modified super-soldiers...
