I am currently using Maximuscle cyclone as my post workout nutrition, which i have at around 8:30pm after my workout. As it only contains 21g of carbs, would it be alright to eat fruit as part of my post-workout nuitrition, such as a banana, apple, oranges etc? Are all fruits complex or simple carbs. I am led to believe that they are simple as they contain fructose, but i need a definite answer. Also, would white bread be a better alternative to the fruit post-workout? Thanks!

Thanks! imo any kind of carb is good...whether it's fruit, white bread, oats (you could mix some fruit and oats into the shake if u want)

My PWO is exclusively fruit and whey. What better time to get in nature's nutrients than a time when you NEED the sugar from the fruit to help protein synthesis? l every day after i work out i have a whey smoothie. 1.5 scoops vanilla whey, 3 cups strawberries, and 2 cups milk. its a little much but its soo delicious and ive noticed im lookin better since i started this a month 1/2 ago If I'm lifting between classes, I'll have 2 large bananas. If I can come home after the gym, I have 1 banana and a big bowl of oats. I also have either an apple or orange pre-workout as well. Fruit is an awesome carb source. Like the list posted above says, just stick with higher GI fruits (bananas, pineapple, watermelon) for PWO and your all set. Yes, there's hardly a better time 2 eat fruit than post-workout! :)

Fruit is great to eat post workout. Fructose should make up about 10-20% of your carbohydrate calories IMO. Not that I really care about that sort of thing.
It's a shame that there is so much misinformation peddled by people on what is supposed to be a nutrition forum. Not to rag on anyone but it makes me a very sad panda.

Bananas will not make you fat, maybe I should've said it differently but if you someone is trying to lose weight they definitely should not be eating 4-5 bananas throughout the day. Yes, you have to burn more calories than you take in.

Fructose is a monosaccharide which is abundant in nature. It is the sweetest naturally occurring carbohydrate. The availability of fructose increased substantially when it became possible in the 1960s to economically produce high fructose syrups from corn starch and other starches. Such high fructose syrups are now used to sweeten soft drinks, fruit drinks, baked goods, jams, syrups and candies. What are the "other common carbohydrates"?

Answer:

Glucose, galactose, lactose, maltose, sucrose. There are probably some others that I don't know.
