TNA recent releases...
Ok, seriously, WTF is going on with that company!?!??! I started watching a bit over a year ago, and they were a GREAT alternative to the WWE (which I haven't watched in quite a while). A lot of home grown talent, innovative moves, the X-division, a tag team division, and they didn't dumb down their storylines like WWE has a tendancy to do.
Over a year later? First, it seems like half their roster is composed of WWE/WCW castoffs. Not necessarily a bad thing, but they're the wrong castoffs. Kip & BG James? The Dudley's? TEST!?!? Dustin Rhodes? Come on.
Second, their storylines have gotten goofy, such as the Kurt Angle/therapist nonsense and the Rhino/beer thing.
Third, they're signing guys like Adam "Pacman" Jones - and to make room for him, they released:
Jerry Lynn
The Bashams
Matt Bentley
Brother Runt
Jerry Lynn still had some "go" left in him, and could have been a great teacher for the younger guys. The Bashams have talent that TNA didn't utilize - and were buried by VKM. Runt could have added an interesting dimension to the Steiner/Dudley fued, and Bentley has always had talent as well, but TNA dropped the ball with the Seratonin gimick that didn't lead ANYWHERE.
There are so many things wrong with the company now, it's just a bit disappointing to see a promising alternative to WWE go right in the crapper.

Answer:

I didnt know the Bashams were released, but I know there was talk they were going to release one of them because he no-showed an event.
Looks like the Dudleyz are off in September too....

Answer:

The Observer is reporting that TNA released them to make pay for Pacman. Jerry Lynn apparently requested his release and they obliged.

Answer:

I didn't even know Lynn was released. I wonder why he would want his release? If RVD comes to TNA they could've had one final match between the two and it would've been big.

Lynn probably got fed up with TNA recruiting WWE rejects. Also he probably got fed up with losing virtually every match. He can still go, and yes maybe he should be putting younger talent over, but he was basically a high profile jobber :( Sucks, as he still has ten times more talent than half of those TNA has signed recently.

If that's the case, I can't blame the guy. Some guys, IMO, deserved a second chance due to the way that WWE used (or didn't use) them. I like the signing of Matt Morgan, Sting has worked better than I thought, the Bashams had talent, and Rhino has always had the intensity and brought a good work ethic to the ring. Christian was another solid signing, and has performed well.
Then you have guys like Tomko, Kip James, BG James, the Dudley's (is there a more stale tag team right now?), Test, Kevin Nash, Dustin Rhodes, and now Pacman Jones. In some ways I agreed initially with the signing of the Pacman because he would bring a ton of mainstream attention to the organization. TNA didn't do their homework though, and now he can't even wrestle due to his NFL contract!. Whoops, there goes all the attention.
Now you have guys with talent/charisma being pushed aside for these has-beens. It sucks.

Answer:

I dont see RVD going to TNA. I really see him returning to the WWE considering he left on good terms and is just on a break.
As for the releases, no one I really liked. But it is shitty how they did it just to make room for a damn football player with personal problems.
