Does all of this sound ok?
Hi, I'm on day 2 of the VD diet. I'm using milk in most of my shakes, for the taste, but also to get some of my carbs. I found without the milk my carbs were well below 50g.
Also, the original auther of this diet stated no fish capsules on training day. I found my fat on this day was 23g which was far too low to make up the calories so I have added at least 10 fish capsules to this day.
I am only having 4 servings of flax seeds as per the original diet.
Your carbs seem too high. 100g was a maximum on training day but I think you should aim lower.
Are you not taking a fat burner?
Hope this helps.
Do i have fish oil with every shake?
As per my understanding you can take the fish oil however and whenever you like. Nutrient timing with fish oil doesn't seem to make a difference.
Linseed (flax seed) with every shake?
The original diet calls for 4 out of 5 shakes to have 2tbsps of flax but there's flexibility so long as you're hitting your calories and getting enough fibre.
Would it be ok to have my morning shake with skim milk and flax seed?
You can have the milk so long as it's within your calorie limit and macros.
is 1640 calories ok?
(assuming non-training day figure) If you weigh around 230 it is.
Protein 174grams + maybe a little extra
Fat = 13g Little low?
Carbs = about 100grams
Fat is a little low, are you counting your fish oil? I get around 20g at least from my flax alone. The carbs: 100g is the ceiling outlined, you probably want to keep this as low as possible (even though this isn't a keto diet). To even think about getting anywhere near 100g on a non-training day you have to eat outside of the diet's parameters anyways, or drink a whole heck of a lot of milk with your shakes. For the protein the most common advocation is "1g per pound" but given your calorie estimate and the protein number given I'm going to assume you're relatively untrained and even 174g represents a huge increase in protein intake. You'll do fine with that amount for your newbie gains.
1. NO MILK!
Milk = no results after water wieght is lost. Suck it up and use water. U gain the carbs your body needs by taking the Surge your supposed to after a workout
2. Take 20 Fish oil pills throughout the day on nonworkout days, none on workout days
3. Take 1 tbsp of Flax seeds in three of your shakes, workout or nonworkout days totalling 3 tbsps a day
U need to take Surge or some other type of Post work out drink. It gives your body more protein, carbs, nessicary sugars and many other benifitial elements needed to recover after a workout. a protein shake will not suffice.
Why would non fat milk do that? It's healthy for you.
Since you don't have Surge on non-training days how are you meant to get enough carbs. After taking 6 protein shakes with water which have very little carbs and the flax seeds which don't have much either I find my carbs are now about 20g. Isn't this a little low or is it acceptable?
I found that not taking the fish capsules on the training days as per original diet the fats you were getting was about 23g. Isn't this too low?
Seems low to me. I mean I have 215 lbs of lean mass. No way that could be sustained on a mere 900 or so calories.
dude are you doing this diet without even knowing how it's done??
http://www.t-nation.com/readTopic.do?id=546491&pageNo=0 is the basic diet, read that and it should answer most of your q's.
How many grams of fat are in most fish oil caps? Wouldnt be much would it? How many cals?
How many grams of fat are in most fish oil caps? Wouldnt be much would it? How many cals? varies but 10 cals is average.

It's a low carb diet and 100g is the maximum. You're supposed to aim to keep it low, not aim to get 100g.
How much Whey are you guys buying for this diet?
It's a low carb diet and 100g is the maximum. You're supposed to aim to keep it low, not aim to get 100g. So without milk I am getting about 20g of carbs on non-training days. Is this an acceptable amount? Sorry for posting these questions on someone else's thread.
Read the link he posted above. And do that to a "T"
if you dont, its not the velocity diet. End of questions. Do it or dont, Im doing it now and it works.
I bought 2 10lbs bags of Whey for this diet and I expect to have a lot extra when Im done
So much false information in this thread. Like using milk, aiming to keep your carbs low, etc... :rolleyes:
