Diet Soda?

Diet Soda?
If I'm cutting would diet soda's hurt me? If so, how? [Diet meaning, no sugar/carbs, just sodium.]

Answer:

It wouldn't hurt you, although there are some studies that link it to obesity (but far from conclusive). But these deal with more run-of-the-mill individuals who don't really watch what they eat.
Anybody frequenting these forums probably does, so for these individuals I would say - go ahead. Just keep in mind that the acids in diet soda are linked to enamel erosion in teeth as well as calcium loss from bones.

Answer:

Just drink water you can't go wrong, I used to be hooked on diet coke but once I started drinking more water again you really feel better.
You will notice diet coke drinkers are usually obese.

Answer:

If you show fear, it may attack you.
However, if you stand your ground and appear dominating and authoritative, you should be fine.

Answer:

To link it with obesity is foolish. There are zero calories, end of.
Swap that diet soda in a fat person's diet with a regular soda and you get a fatter person.
Drink lots of water on top of it and worry not.

Drink lots of water on top of it and worry not. The studies (as far as I know) don't say that diet soda and obesity share a direct cause-effect relationship but rather that it creates the expectation for sugars from the body, and when the body finds that there are in fact none it goes out looking for them - so the person may eat two doughnuts instead of one, for instance.
So as I said this is probably an issue for "average" people that don't watch what they eat, rather than the people on this forum.

Answer:

I see no problem in having 1 maybe 2 diet sodas a day. As long as its not your primary beverage theres nothing to worry about.

Answer:

Just drink it.

Answer:

Bullshit!

You will notice diet coke drinkers are usually obese. These claims r typical of the highly publicized misinformation paid 4 by the sugar lobby & cranked out by research-4-hire scientific whores in an attempt 2 discredit artificial sweeteners, particularly Splenda, which is making a big dent in their business.
Just b/c fat ppl use these products, it doesn't mean diet drinks made them that way, it just means they r attempting "damage control."
To suggest otherwise is "post hoc" reasoning, which is logically & scientifically completely bogus. The real truth is that if fat ppl used sugared soft drinks, they would b even fatter & their teeth would be even more decayed!
Personally I have decarbonated my lifestyle & use Crystal Light these days. I just don't need the extra gas!

Answer:

You drink it once in a while but dont drink too much of it. I would day 1 is fine as long as you arent drinking too much of it I dont see it being bad for you. There is no carbs , no calories just a mild bit of sodium which wont do much at all. Like with everything alot of anything can be bad for you. If you enjoy diet soda drink it as a treat every once in a while nothing wrong with that.

Answer:

its fine.. just drink it in moderation.. maybe 1 a day at the most or so.. try to keep it away from when ur about to hit the sack too.. the caffeine is something to try to stick away from at night.. have it near the afternoon or with ur lunch..
but other then that stick to some water / protein shakes when necessary (pre-post WO)
