Extra Virgin Oil Oil (EVOO), the best kind of olive oil, is my basic cooking oil. Here r some things I use it 4:
1. Sauteeing meats & vegetables.
2. Sauteeing garlic & onions as flavoring 4 many dishes.
3. Making any kind of stir-fry dish.
4. With balsamic or red wine vinegar & herbs as a salad dressing.

Also, why is extra virgin better than standard olive oil? Yes. less processed, tastes better, more expensive. Nutritionally I think the same, or very, very similar.

Also, why is extra virgin better than standard olive oil? I don't use it in baking, but I imagine it would work in a baked recipe w/pasta & tomato sauce that calls 4 cooking oil.
EVOO comes from the first pressing of the olives and thus has lower acidity & better taste than later pressings where more heat and pressure r applied 2 get every last drop of oil out.
Here is an article that explains in detail:

Answer:

I use it for baking sweets. (Ive baked a lot) Food turns out just as good. =) Unless the flavors of the sweets are really delicate olive oil works just as well.

Answer:

so, the fat in olive oil is good fat, but it's still fat, which should still be used sparingly, right? Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but it seems like you guys use olive oil in everything lol. I was wondering why I was at 30% the other day when I was eating very lean then I saw I had 2 tbsp of olive oil at 28g of fat!
