Please Help, Can't stop eating JUNK
Hi ya'll. I just competed in my first figure competition this month. I did great, and really stuck to my diet PERFECTLY.. After the show was over we went on vacation and I ate like a PIG... drank lots of alcohol too! I know better, but for some reason, I have lost all my will power when it comes to food... I never feel full or satisfied now.... I've been eating so much I feel awful!!
I got to 10% BF for the show and I LOVED the way I looked, I know I cannot maintain that all year, but damn.... I am feeling like a PIG right now... I just eat, eat and eat.... I dieted down for 14 weeks and stuck to it, now, I feel like I've just given up... it's been two weeks of bad eating and of course drinking alcohol.... How can I get back on track and maintain a decent body fat?? I am 31 years old female. 5'10 about 140lbs for contest, now who knows.... I am afraid to look at what I weigh in at!! is this normal after a show to want to eat like this??? It was my first show and I really don't think I want to do another one anytime soon, but Id like to maintain some of what I worked so hard for..
Thanks!
you ve had a major relapse i guess u could say. you ve got sucked into the american way. you need to fite it. your not to far gone YET. get ur head and ass wired together, get back in the gym an do what u do, and watch what you eat. try to maintain at least decent body fat until your next show, then cut.
well, if youre hungry, eat! just try to fill yourself up on nutritious foods. you wont have as much of a craving for junk.
I know! I just need to pull my head outta my butt and get a grip!! I can control these cravings.... for almost 4 months I watched my family eat ice cream, fast food, cookies, while I dined on turkey, chicken, oatmeal protein shakes and apples.... now I just feel like I want all that junk!! I must get back in the gym, I haven't workout out in a week, so I am sure that will change things too....
I did good for dinner tonight though... I had extra lean sirloin with salad, carrots, and kidney beans, I tossed my salad with salsa instead of dressing.... I feel better mentally after that somewhat healthy meal..... today was a joke though.... I did good for breakfast, had my usual oatmeal, but waaay to much coffee.. then I started eating bad....
I think I need to eat every 3 hours again so I dont binge like this....
Thanks!!
You just need to set some new goals for yourself.
I know for me unless I have a specific goal I'm working towards I have absolutely no ability to monitor my eating. I'm either eating 2500 clean calories, working out 5 days a week, or I'm eating 8000+ calories and drinking every night. I wish I could find a medium, but I'm kind of an all or nothing type of guy.
Set some new goals whether it be another contest, getting to a certain BF %, or pushing more iron. Without goals there's no motivation, and without motivation things turn ugly fast.

Thanks!! This might sound wierd, but: treat yourself like a junky. That crap is your fix. However, don't beat on yourself when you mess up (you're more likely to repeat the behavior). Realize you made a mistake according to your goals and wanted lifestyle, re-realize your goals (and I mean really visualize them-lock 'em in ya brain), and try not to make the mistake again. Find ways to satisfy your cravings with things not as damaging (semi-sugar cereal with protein mixed in da milk, etc.).
When you go through the harsh-demanding things you jsut put yourself through, you and your body just need a break. Don't let it get too far and you'll be fine, you might even see some great muscle gains from it :O. My buddy got to 4% for a show and because of problems at work didn't lift (except for some bodyweight stuff, but light) or watch what he ate for two weeks! All that happened was he shot up to 10% bodyfat (which is still low) and gained a crap load of muscle (looked like he'd done a round of steroids). His body was sooo starved for anything and being that unhealthy (yes I said it 4% is unhealthy) his body just needed to get back to "normal".
No worries TexKat
Hi Texaskitty,
I totally understand because I went the other way after my figure comp last month. I had one big PIGOUT right after show and then started right back on my clean foods the very next day. I know people thought I was crazy but I have seen what has happened to you happen to so many others and it is HELL to go through. I really feel for you.
You just need to find your way back. But the secret is all in your attitude. If you feel that as you say you watched your family eat all the junkie stuff while you ate clean then you need to remember just WHY you ate so clean. You had an amazing goal that most women/men can never ever achieve and you did!! Yes it is hard to watch others but alllways at the back of your mind you have to ask yourself what is better for me. Ice cream on demand or steady controlled eating that gets you amazing results mentally and physically. Which will make you happier?
Just because your contest prep is done your goals for health are not.
Not all of us can resume eating and think our bodies will just instinctively know how much fat to replace. My best advice to you right now is to slow down, plan all your meals again, take food with you again, and definitely watch the carbs. They need to be introduced back into your diet very slowly. It will work- I have only gained back 4-5 lbs and that is a good amnt for me at my weight and bf%.
Good Luck, you've worked hard you just gotta keep it going now:)
Just stop it.

Thanks... I guess I am really feeling stressed, that drives me to eat junk too....with a two year old driving me nuts throughout the day and just daily stresses, I am reaching for the wrong stuff.... I MUST get back on track and just allow myself the cheats on the weekend, like I did before the contest... I just felt so deprived the last week of preperation that I am overdoing the endulging now.. I never thought I would do this to myself... I worked so hard and loved the way my body looked, guess I have to get back to that.... damnit... I am going for a walk now.... been cooped up all day in the house... feeling hungry again!!
I can't eat crap anymore. Just disgusts me. The only time I'll eat crapola is when I'm hungry and the closest thing is Mick D's. I'll get a double cheeseburger to tide me over until I can get home. lol. I had some whisky last night, but it was just a little. Won't drink for another week or so.
if you want to stop eating crap get it out of ur site.. throw it away or dont leave it out..
also keep reminding urself how u prepped for ur contest and how you felt when u were up on that stage and how good and tight ur body felt
look at pictures of what u were like and remember how u got there and strive to do better then what u were before...
ever since i strarted eating healthy i cant even touch those dirty foods.. but its all mental and its all about getting rid of it..
so put away the shitty foods and store them in places you cant see or throw them away.. and replace them with clean foods..
stick to eating the lean proteins, complex carbs, fruits , veggies, and good fat sources
get back in the gym and start getting those hormones going again and endorphins flowing.. it will be no time before u love that feeling of that pump

Ya'll are sooooo right.... tomorrow, gym... :-)
it happens to us all, i felt like total shit for the last 2 weeks, training sparcely because i messed my finger up bad in sports, and just ate all kinds of crap including alot of beers at weekend parties.
I kicked that this weekend, and started eating like usual and got back into my workouts, and i think im pretty much back to where i was bf% wise before i binged out.
if youve been eating that clean for such a long time a few weeks of bad eating can be easily made up for with eating clean and working out again. you're probobly just holding back alot of water after eating all those carbs right after prepping for a contest (where i bet you cut alot of carbs and had plenty of cardio to get ready for the show)
it was a small mistake, acknowlede it and move on. you cant change it now, can only try not to do it again.
