Pre workout meal times. Real foods and shakes.
I usually eat 2 hours before working out (whole foods w/ complex carbs), takes supps 35-45 mins before workout, protein shake right before workout.
Anyone do anything drastically different as far as pre workout nutrition is concerned?
thanks
I eat a couple hours before lifting and that's it. If I take in any more food or shakes closer to my workout I feel too sluggish. Whatever works for ya

thanks I do the same, except for the addition of the protein shake right beforehand, but I have protein with my previous meal.
During the work week, I eat some fruit, nuts, can of chicken, or veggies (whatever I have available) about 1.5 hours before working out. And usually pop a caffeine tab.
On weekends, nothing. No food, no supps. I workout in the morning, around 9 am.
hey man i do exactly what you do and it works great. it makes a big difference in the energy level during your workout to eat a solid meal 2 hours before and a shake/ supps 40 minutes before. if i skip one or the other, i feel a big energy drop.

Protein source ( whey shake) + complex carbs ( oatmeal) + Fruit ( blueberries) take that about 45 minutes before hitting the gym.. works like a charm every time
