Nausea From Sweets?

Nausea From Sweets?
I'm not sure why, but since I've been cycling between keto and a healthy diet low in refined carbs, I just can't handle sweets. For example, after drinking a glass of juice, my mouth floods with a sour saliva, my stomach churns, and I feel nauseated. Most foods these days taste 10x sweeter than they had just a few months ago; When I first started eating 1-2 squares of 85% dark chocolate for it's antioxidant properties it tasted bitter, but now I find it as sweet as a milk chocolate candy bar. Fruits have really become "Nature's candy" , plain yoghurt is no longer tasteless. Is this normal, or indicative of a serious problem? About 3 months ago I had a physical and my blood sugar was tested for diabetes--it was normal. Can diabetes develop within that amount of time?

Answer:

Yea, your tastes for foods aren't static. When I was a kid I hated brussel sprouts and anythign remotely spicy, but now I find sprouts tasty and I can handle spicier foods. I also find the very dark chocolate to be sweeter now than when I first tried it. I can't say much about juice because I never drink it, I don't like it very much and it sort of defeats the purpose of fruit. Diabetes can't develop that fast, and besides that, nausea from sweets or an increase in the percieved sweetness aren't signs of diabetes. :) You're just adjusting to a new pallete of food.

Answer:

brussel sprouts??? I think I just puked in my mouth a little!!

Answer:

its normal... you'll get the same response if you drop all the salt...
but, I love salt, and has been helping me stick to my diet lately so screw that.
sweets like cake have always made me nauseous, esp if combined with alcohol...

Answer:

Cut them in quarters (none of this cutting a cross on the bottom crap), boil briefly, then toss them in cooked bacon bits. You'll love them.

Answer:

Plain Jane, your taste buds are coming to their senses. Humans are not designed to eat lots of sweet stuff all day long. You're losing your taste for sweets and you'll be all the healthier for it. The last study I saw showed that eating sweets was a huge risk factor for breast cancer.

You could probably make me think a pile of dog crap was edible ....haha! Especially if there was bacon on it...hahaha!

brussel sprouts??? I think I just puked in my mouth a little!! I've eaten them raw just for a change. They have a spicy taste then somewhat at similar level to celery but hotter. It grosses my family out which makes it even more worthwhile.

Answer:

pukey pukerson
Plain, I pretty much started to hate the taste of anything sweet after about two months of CKD. I would actually dread my carb load days (shocking, right?) because that first mouthful of post workout shake with all of that sugary stuff in it after my Friday delpletion workout was just hurlarific. I would have to con myself into doing it...I think it's probably pretty normal for some people. It happened to my brother, too.
