Do the majority of you stick with a static daily diet?
Do the majority of you stick with a static daily diet?
Hey guys, am curious to know if you follow the same diet day in day out in order to lose fat and try maintain muscle. Would it be alright to just eat the required amount of protein daily but estimate for the other macros?
Or, do most of you count every calorie and follow a fixed diet of correct P/C/F for your body, day in day out?
Also, how much of a part does BF% play in it? I am >20%, so would it be worse for me to just estimate compared to a leaner person?
ummm, white rice (jasmine) is more tasty, but i like 2 have brown rice, every noe n then, as it is lower in carbs, and low GI also.
I think your post is about another question of mine- thanks for your input though :). Anyone got any tips on the questions in this thread?
I stick to a proper cutting plan on a 40/40/20 now, don't guess anything...
I count, everything, but that's easy on IF. 3 meals, 30 g of fat and 50 g of protein at each one. I don't really count calories, because I know that those macros add up to what I need.
Thanks for your input guys. I think what I may do is just have guidelines for what I have to eat each meal (eg. 50 grams carb, 30 grams protein, 5 grams fat) but not specify the food...Gets booring eating chicken breast with rice/pasta day in day out.
I find it much easier to deal with if I count everything out just right and pre-make most of my meals. My refridgerator has tons of little square tupperware containers with pre-made meals in them.
My friend came over for the first time and opened my fridge to get a bottle of water and about flipped. He just stared into it and said "you have got to be freakin' kidding me" It was Sunday so I had just made all my meals for up through Friday... 30 containers, stacked 6 high, all with numbers on them dictating which meal of the day they were for.
Believe me, when you are in the kitchen and you know it's time for a meal, or it's getting around lunch time and you're at work... it's a lot easier to screw up your meal plan because there's that inclination to do something quick and easy. There've been times where I just say I'll get a salad from Quiznos and call it good... but I don't know what the macros and calories are in the salads there, how do I know how much to eat? What's too much or too little? What if they put too much meat or too much cheese on it?
If you can just grab a container and pop it open, maybe heat it up real quick if necessary... it's SO easy to stick to your guns. You don't have to make the same exact meals for every day, you can get creative as long as your macros and cals are correct.
Goto calorieking.com and dload the program to plan ur diet, heaps better than fitday and all those other ones. Good program.

I think I'd love for you to organize my fridge. I do love tupperware for some reason.
I used to cook like, 6 meals the night before, but I hate cooking so now I just do IF and throw a couple huge salads together, it's easier that way. And I never reach my cal. limit, so I don't have to worry if I get a meal from a restaurant as long as it doesn't have carbs (no carb-hater). Plus since I'm at home, my stepmom would kill me if I filled up her fridge with tupperware hehe :D

You don't have to make the same exact meals for every day, you can get creative as long as your macros and cals are correct. Actually that is a really good idea! Dedicate a few hours on the sunday to make the meals for my whole week. Dont know if I can fit 25 tupperware containers in the fridge (parents would be annoyed plus theres no room) but I could fit a whole days meal into a good sized tupperware container (eg. for one day I need to eat 500 grams of chicken breast with 1 cup of rice spread over 3 meals...I could just put it into 1 container and eat it 3 times a day). This would mean only 5 cntainers in the fridge/freezer which could work. Need to see how it all goes though! Great tip :).
Yeah I'd take a picture but I don't have a camera of any sorts. My left side crisper has bags of raw spinach, and salad mixes (always the dark greens). The right side crisper has my whole veggies in it (zuchinni, tomatoes, garlic, chickpeas, green onions, etc). I have 3 shaker cups labelled "Tue", "Thu", and "Sat" those are my post workout shakes which I also pre-make (It's just the milk and whey I toss in the extras before I drink them). I pre-make the shakes 'cause I use a blender which I won't have on hand after my workout.
Two each gallon jugs of milk one in front of the other, two each gallon jugs of water one in front of the other, the door has a row for dressings and marinades, a row for cottage cheese and yogurts, and a row for bottles of water.
The freezer, two stacks of frozen vegitibles, two stacks of frozen berries and mixed fruit, a stack of ice cube trays, and then a stack of frozen meat (shrimps, fish, and chicken breast). Yes my fridge is crazy organized... but I love it to death. Oh yeah the feezer also has yogurts in the door that I froze in case I want something cold after a long hot day.
^^ that is my dream fridge. Brushed stainless steel, labeled tupperware, and an ice maker.. Heavenly :D Do you cook your meats for the whole week?
I buy pre-cooked lean chicken breast, and pre-cooked shrimpies so when I make my meals all I have to do is thaw them out in really really hot water for 20 minutes and it's good to go. I steam my fish though.
The pre-cooked stuff is more expensive... but I'm young, I'm a guy, and I'm in the military. Cooking for several hours multiple times a week just isn't condusive to me.

I do like to buy rotisserie chickens cause they're pre-cooked, but they only last me like, 2 days :-\ You steer clear of the MRE's? hehe :p
MREs... gah.... I remember just being in such absolute shock when I read the Macros on one of those things.
I'm not kidding we're talking 1,800 - 2,400 calories in one meal. Starchy carbs, saturated fat... *puke*
