Which is the greater sin??
Which is the greater sin??
Eating 2 meals a day or eating 6 meals, all with high GI carbs
cals are the same at the end of the day though
Well I have personally tried the 6 a day plan and honestly...I think it is overated. HI GI carbs gets my vote.

Sorry, I cannot associate with sinners.
me either, follow the signs please

6 high GI meals per day is way worse. Only having two meals doesn't spike insulin, but consuming high GI foods does - and 6 times per day!..ah, your poor poor body.
I remember reading an interview with Frank Zane and he talked about how he only eats 2 large meals (breakfast/dinner) and has 2 small snacks in between.
Answer Depends on What U mean by "High GI" . . .
In other word, how high is "high?"
I'd say just 2 meals/day is the lesser of evils if "high GI" = simple carbs
If "high GI" = white rice, then I'd vote the other way
Only having two meals doesn't spike insulin, It will after those meals if you eat enough carbs, even low GI. Ever teated your blood sugar after a high-carb, low GI meal?
But I guess overall insulin levels should be more stable with the 2 'good' meals. And likely more nutritious because of the food choices.
I'm waiting for the inevitable 'GI is irrelevant' post......
I'm waiting for the inevitable 'GI is irrelevant' post...... haha tell that to me after im passed out sleeping after a meal
I'm waiting for the inevitable 'GI is irrelevant' post...... haha x2...i think that people get the misconception when they hear people say GI is irrelavent...I think that the GI of individual foods is irrelavent, but overall GI of your meal still plays a role, does it not?
haha x2...i think that people get the misconception when they hear people say GI is irrelavent...I think that the GI of individual foods is irrelavent, but overall GI of your meal still plays a role, does it not? Yup.

thats kina how im diong now... 2 big meals and i will eat some snacks in between (protein/fat) frank zane is the man
haha x2...i think that people get the misconception when they hear people say GI is irrelavent...I think that the GI of individual foods is irrelavent, but overall GI of your meal still plays a role, does it not? I guess my feeling is that 'irrelevant' is not the word to use. Even those that use it cite Alan Aragon, who never said it was irrelevant, just that it should not the be only (or even main) consideration when making food choices. It still has an impact and should be considered IMO. However, as far as blood glucose and insulin levels are concerned generally the GL or amount of carbs is actually more important/influential, especially in a mixed meal.
A few g of dex is nothing as far as insulin response is concerned compared to 50-60g of carbs from oats or any 'low' GI source, even with protein and fat in the meal. Of course 50g of dex in a meal is going to give you more of a response than 50g of carbs from a low GI source. so in that sense there is a consideration. But the difference between say a GI of 60 and 70 is not worth worrying about IMO. Only if we are talking say 40-50 vs 80-100.

There is no evidence that high gi carbs lead to greater fat gain than low gi carbs, if that's what you're getting at. But the original question wasn't very clear.
My answer to the question is 'meh'. If total macros are the same I doubt you would see any difference between the two protocols.
So, yeah. Meh.
if those are your only two choices I feel very sad for you, and if those arent your only two choices this is a stupid ****ing post.

So, yeah. Meh. exactly what i was trying to throw out there...sorry for being too ambiguous :)
id perfer the 2 meals with some snacks in between.. maybe some MRP's combined with a lil fat source.. or some almonds / glass of milk and a sandwich etc etc
def the 2 meals.. 6 meals of high GI carbs might be a bit of an overload IMO
2 meals will be a lot better on ur insulin and as long as u get enough to fit into ur macros with the 2 meals.. all u need
gonna be some big ass meals tho

no question high GI is worse.. insulin spiking big time 6 times a day = fat gains here you come!

they both suck equally

I remember reading an interview with Frank Zane and he talked about how he only eats 2 large meals (breakfast/dinner) and has 2 small snacks in between. Every single unit of carbohydrates you put in your body rises insulin levels. If it didn't, you would drop dead.
Eating 2 huge meals would probably lead to the majority of it getting stored.
Also, eating 6 High GI meals would also probably lead to it getting stored. You'd get fat pretty fast doing this. 6 High GI meals is what some movie stars do when they need to get fat for roles.
Ice Cream, donuts, all that shit.
why not just 6 low gi high protein meals? lol

Ice Cream, donuts, all that shit. but with regard to ice cream and donuts, i would assume (i haven't looked up their GI scores) that the GI would actually be relatively low due to the fat content.
the whole idea of having 6 high GI meals is just plain unrealistic. if you throw in some meat with any of those meals, you're going to lower the GI of the entire meal...iirc, your stomach mixes all of it's contents around and breaks it down into kind of a mush (along with chewing) which then is emptied into the intestines. so, it's not like if you ate a steak & potato, that the potato is going to be absorbed before the steak...it all gets absorbed together. hell even if you just eat the potato and put butter or sour cream or something on it, you're changing how quickly it will be digested.
