bascily, any tips to get the most money when selling my books back?

Answer:

Answer:

Answer:

Answer:

Answer:

Peel the sticker off and don't say anything about its condition. Obviously it's used if you're selling it back (because you used it, duh) but you don't need to tell them you weren't the first to use it.
I sold my books back exactly once. I paid $400 for them and got back $30 and a basket with a men's razor and shaving cream. **** that shit. I kept 'em every other semester. Hey, they were literature books, sometime I might need a copy of Shakespeare.

X2...It seems like there may be more benefits to keeping the books and atleast looking well-read than selling them back for minimal book store credit.

Answer:

Actually, now that it's been 12 years and I haven't touched the books even once...they'd probably make excellent kindling.

Answer:

Heres my advice. If you dont wanna sell it online, you can always sell it to fellow college students directly.
Go to your college student union or student activity center, whatever they call it. They usually have these boards where people post up little pieces of paper to advertise that they need a roommate or have an empty room out to rent, or maybe an old car they want to sell. Lots of people post up little notes offering to sell textbooks because they dont want the college bookstore to rip them off on buybacks. Just post up a note with the textbooks you have and prices, and your email address. You can just list them as slightly used.
It takes a bit of effort but you should get significantly more if you know how to price your books compared to your college bookstore.

Answer:

some books are worth keeping of course, but a lot are worth selling...
I'm gonna try to sell like 4-6 books this semester, but I'm worried a couple already have newer versions...just so they can make more money.

If so, let me warn you: it is a horrible experience.

Answer:

If you're selling them back to the university, the code thats on the book will tell them that its used. The big "USED" sticker is simply to show students the book is used when buying. I tried peeling it off with no luck.
On a side note, I used to sell all of my books back the first day possible. The only problem was that the first day to sell books back was before finals week. So I'd take a razor blade and cut out 5-10 pages of the book that I still needed and then sold it back. Poor bastards.

Answer:

-peel off the sticker
-if its as new as you say it is, price it about 80-90% of the original cost
-make a sign listing all the books you have and the relevant courses its for
-put your phone number/email on this sign
-make like 20 photocopies of this sign
-tape them all over the building that these courses are located at
-also put some up around the bookstores (some will see it before it gets ripped off)
-now just wait as desperate students call you up ..anyone is willing to save a few dollars instead of buying it for more at the book store..they also save tax
