It's not racist. It's true that african americans are disproportionately represented in the criminal justice system. While theres a ton of theories as to why (everything from genetics to discrimination in the CJ system), the easiest answer is to say its a socio-economic problem.

Take any crime statistical information system (Uniform Crime Reports, National Crime Victimization Surveys, National Incident Based Reporting System, the list goes on) and look at the information they recieve. I perceive the statistical information they report to be true because they're basing it on what information they have (through reports, surveys, etc). You perceieve it to be false because it still doesn't get to the heart of true crime.
I see it as flawed rather than false. The problem is that no proxy measure will ever get to the true amount of crime. But hell, people still argue about what "crime" itself should be defined as.
