Play WoW for free -- simple instructions
Here's how.
1. If you have WoW on your computer right now, change the folder name from World of Warcraft to something else.
2. Reinstall WoW. Do not elect to play, do not start the game, just reinstall WoW and TBC. Do not let the game connect to Blizz servers for patches or updates of any kind.
3. After install, or while install, or whenever (sometime before you start the game) go to Filefront and download patches 2.0.1 through 2.1.3.
4. Install the patches manually without connecting to the Internet. (It's a good idea to disconnect your computer from the Internet at this time, as WoW will automatically try to connect to Blizz servers sometimes when it is done installing a patch)
5. Go to www.wowstatus.net to check out all the publicly available private servers. Some are just like playing on a Blizz server, others have crazy things like level caps of 255, unlimited gold, free tier 6 gear, free epics of all kinds, etc.
6. Find a server, register your account with them (you must create your WoW account on that server before logging into the game). The server's DNS name or IP address will be on their wowstatus page. Copy that.
7. Open up your newly installed WoW folder, find the file realmlist.wtf. This will be in the main folder, NOT the WTF folder.
8. Open the file with notepad. (Right-click, select open, then select "Choose from a list of Programs" and double-click Notepad). There will be 2 lines of text. The first one will say "set realmlist us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com" change this to "set realmlist name-or-IP-of-private-server". This can be repeated if you want to switch servers. Just plug in the name or IP of the new server whenever you want to swtich.
9. Fire up wow, login and play.

your steps are way too long, just get WoW, let it connect to the blizzard patcher up to 2.1.3, download WoW-FE, add ur realms, and click play, it changes the stuff from notepad automatically, use The Nexis Realms my chars name is Veulin on The Black Temple Server

I was told that if you let it connect to Blizz servers for updates it wouldn't work on private servers.
