Subject Selection (serious) (Aust.)
Subject Selection (serious) (Aust.)
Hey everyone.
I need to know what subjects I should do so I can get a good OP, into Science at UQ and then hopefuly into Med School. The teachers I have asked say I am definately in the top 80 of the year group, and I learn very well. And I also got three Certifcate of Merit awards in 4 years (top 25% of year) I got about a high B average last semester, which is good seeing as I am in one of the best schools in Australia.
If I do all these subjects I will qualify for all the Feild Position (over 60) but I really need a good OP and hopefully do well in the UMET.
I was thinking about
Geography
Mathematics B
Mathematics C
Chemestry
Physics
English
(Math B & C are the hardest)
my school offers the following
CHINESE
FRENCH
GERMAN
JAPANESE
LATIN
GEOGRAPHY
ECONOMICS
MOD. HISTORY
TECH. STUDIES #
MUSIC
MATHEMATICS B
MATHEMATICS A
MATHEMATICS C
MOD. HISTORY
BIOLOGICAL SCI.
CHEMISTRY
PHYSICS
BIOLOGICAL SCI.
GEOGRAPHY
ART
EARTH SCIENCE PHYSICS
CHEMISTRY
ECONOMICS
ANC.HISTORY
DRAMA
PHYSICAL ED.
please help me
Those look all good, except if i were you i'd drop geography and take up biology. Although it doesn't matter that much. My best advice if you want a high OP is to take the easiest authority subjects and do as well as you can in them.
But if you're going after Medicine i think you have to at least keep Maths B and one of Biology, Chem and Physics.
BIOLOGY
geography is not a good subject to do.
I pwn @ geography
and you don't need Biol, at my school it is impossibly hard with asignments & shit
biol isn't s pre requisite for Science or Medicine
Music
Drama
Art
and
Chinese
Music
Drama
Art
and

biol isn't s pre requisite for Science or Medicine It will still help with those tough medicine subjects.
If you're going to try to go for med school, even if it isnt a pre-requisite you should do biology anyway. You're never going to use geography in your medical degree, but something tells me a little biology might go a long way ;)
Also, many of my friends who went on to med. did biomedical science as one of their majors in their science course, really helps!

My mom, who is a Lecturer at the Med School, says i doesn't really help that much.
I'll go and check it out with some other techers too.
