Eating to bulk - how should I feel

Eating to bulk - how should I feel
"How should I feel" I'm know is relative but I'm wondering what others experience in terms of bloating, gas, occaisonal upset stomach and general discomfort when eating boat loads of food day in and day out.
A bit of history:
I'm am new to lifting weights, gaining weight and intense anaerobic exersize. I'm 33, 6' 0" and started at a weight of 168 - 170 and now weigh in, in the morning after rising and eliminating, about 193. During the day, after eating I can easily tip the scale at 202. I've gained about 24 (+/- 5) lbs in 7 months. I've never felt this big in my life and have always been "boney". I assume I'm doing something right, although the pudge around my mid-section is definately noticeable these days but that's another question for another post.
In a day I currently eat around 3200 to 3600 calories and my diet consists of brown rice, chicken, beef, sweet potatoes, veggies, oats, oils, peanut butter, whole grain breads, eggs, whey, a little gainer for that extra 500 - 800 calories, whey isolate, Casein, cheese, yogurt, mixed nuts, grape juice, and will sometimes cheat with veggie burgers, pizza, hot dogs on wheat buns, low fat ice cream and maybe a tablespoon of country crock. And I'll eat simple carbs post workout.
My problem (finally) is that it seems that no matter what I eat I feel bloated, I'm flatulent ALL day, and I feel discomfort. I have a BM at least 3 times a day, sometimes 4, and I urinate around twice an hour as the day progresses and approximately 4 times during the hour after workout do to all the fluids I consume. I eat Beano like there's no tomorrow and I eat lactaid when I eat dairy and while it helps I still cannot get rid of the symptoms. I realize that certain foods can cause discomfort, especially in excess. So, is this a normal feeling when trying to bulk? Or are my ailments excessive and maybe I should have tests run? Or maybe I'm a friggen wuss and just need to suck it up. But to be honest, I don't think I can maintain this lifestyle for much longer. Maybe I need to accept the fact that I will only be so big and just work with what I have. But I want to be bigger...
Any suggestions and/or experiences would be so much appreciated because I don't know what to expect and I don't know anyone else who is doing what I'm doing so I can't compare notes.
Thanks!

Answer:

Just not used to eating that much yet. I sometimes feel bloated after meals. The urination is fine provided you're drinking all the water you need and it's coming out clear.

Answer:

hey are you familiar with ulcers or acid reflux. Google it and see if you have any of those symptoms. I am just getting over acid reflux which was created from being lactose and tolerant and not knowing it. I had to take a pill called acifex (not spelled like that but I dont know if I can give brand names), its a perscription medicine. I was having problems with gas and bloating and over all naucious feelings. After cutting out lactose and taking the pill I can shove steak after steak in.

I'm bloated alot throughout the day too, still waitin on my body to adjust to how much/how frequently I'm eating lmao. Been so long tho...oh well. I just put up and deal with it.

Answer:

Digestive enzymes make bulking so much more pleasant. I don't know how I managed without them.

Answer:

Harris,
From what you've described, your symptoms are almost exactly the same as mine. For about 6 months now, I've gotten really serious about bulking. My diet is pretty much the same as yours, and my bodyweight has gone from 145-190 in about 6 months while staying under 15 percent bodyfat. I'm on the toilet, on average, 5 times a day or more. I fart constantly (my ex-girlfriend would open the bedroom window in the dead of winter sometimes), and by the end of the day my stomach looks almost like Ronnie Coleman's in the off season(well, not quite).
All that said, I think the GI distress is unfortunately a necessary evil that goes part and parcel with gaining substantial muscle mass. If your symptoms still cause you concern, than maybe talk to your GP (family practice physician) just to be safe.
