Congress targets TNA and NWA
Cliff Stearns' office yesterday requested drug program details from both TNA and the National Wrestling Alliance. They want the information by close of business on August 28th.
~Bryan Alvarez This could be trouble for TNA, as they've been flying under the radar until now. I'm not sure what policies they have in place, but it's been described as being pretty close to Vince's old policy:
"If I see a needle sticking out of someone's ass, then I know I need to test them."
This could be very interesting.
Well in the interest of fairness that's the right thing to do. TNA doesn't push the ridiculously muscled up guys like WWE does, but they certainly have some guys that look like they abuse 'drugs'. (Steiner comes to mind of course)
I wonder what can come out of this though? If they don't have a drug testing program then what? They must impose one in return I would think. I'm no genius, what else could congress do?
I would imagine, like you said, congress would demand that they create one (or improve on any existing program). I think if they don't have one, or have a poor system, though, Congress could be in their grill for quite sometime.
It may also end the raid on former WWE superstars, especially guys like Test (his body looked more than suspicious at the PPV).
I'd like to know why Congress thinks they have a leg to stand on with any of this crap. WWE is not a sport... it's entertainment. If they're so concerned about this, then wonder when they'll be sticking their noses into the Pro body-building arena?
What's next... Congress mandating testing of movie stars?
