How long can someone live without protein? Please help..
Last Thursday I was diagnosed with colitis. They put me on drugs to eliminate the colitis.... for 10 days.
The problem is the side effects of these drugs is extreme nausea, to the point where I can barely get out of bed (and def not get out of the house) until the 10 day period is over.
Every time I have even a little bit of protein I end up feeling like shit (unable to get out of bed) for the rest of the day. Just now I had only half a can of tuna and I feel like puking my ****ing brains out.
Protein makes me feel like killing myself with these drugs. I mean seriously unbearable.
How long can someone live without protein? Cause I can't take it anymore.

Answer:

Um...if it's a matter of survival, I highly recommend you ask someone other than strangers on an internet message board.

Answer:

protein drinks?
you can survive over 10 days without eating anything at all the body isnt that easy to kill, protein alone wont be a problem. though you will be dead twice over if you cant drink water so force that down.

though you will be dead twice over if you cant drink water so force that down. Definitely. Dehydration is serious stuff. Have you tried a protein shake like the other poster suggested? Maybe its just the digestion of solid food that's making you nauseated. When I drank a lot of smoothies and even managed oatmeal a few times. Try liquids and see if that works.

Answer:

Thanks for the responses. The problem with protein drinks is that the doctor specifically said no dairy. Whey is dairy.

They also make soy and egg protein drinks, I see them at Kroger and Food Lion. That is what I would suggest.

Answer:

Isn't egg, dairy?
I'll search for the soy protein in my area thanks.

Answer:

I'll search for the soy protein in my area thanks. What? No, egg is...well it's just egg. There's no lactose in it.

I'll search for the soy protein in my area thanks. Cows do not lay eggs, chickens do. Cows make milk, chickens do not.

Answer:

LOL screw you bastards. I called the doctor's office (Dr. is on vacation) and the receptionists all (there was a few of them) told me that egg was dairy and had lactose in it.
I had a hard boiled egg before and it didn't make me any more nauseous than I already am so I guess I can have a few a day.
