Football Season is coming....(nutritional ideas needed)
Ok, im going to try to keep this short, but last year about this time is when my diet/lifestyle went to shit. I love football, however this time of year is a big change for me. As a football coach/teacher I have to begin work after doing nothing all summer. The first thing to go last year was working out and the diet followed close behind. I went from 265 to 288 by Jan. Not this year folks, I am at 240 now and as healthy as can be.
Now, I will be in the same situations this year for college/NFL football. Parties, tailgaiting all of that good fun stuff. The mission is to bring good healthy food to these things. These foods must be convient to transport, easy to cook on a grill.
Who has some ideas?
Couple off the top of my head:
Veggie Tray
Good ol chicken breast marinated overnight (to replace the wings)
Turkey Pepp w/ low fat cheese (sans the cracker)
What else?

Answer:

Sandwiches!

Answer:

I found some lean turkey brats at Kroger that were amazing. Great tailgating food too.

Answer:

why not just eat lean burgers on whole wheat buns when you tailgate...Instead of chips, throw some corn on the cob on the grill, or grill up a baked potato...not 100% "clean" but better than chips or other stuff

How well do you think a sweet potato would grill?

Answer:

you only live once, my diet is going to go to complete crap and back once football season comes
this is what my day will look like
10-20 beers
4-5 hamburgers
alot of chips
but football season and lifes only comes once, cant think about eatting healthy during tailgate season

Answer:

I can't believe I forgot this, but man, you gotta get some bison burgers. Lean meat should not have that much flavor, but you hit that medium rare sweet spot, and you'll have a hard time eating run of the mill ground chuck again.

You get that at the local store or do you go to a meat packing store? I'd like to give it a try

Answer:

any others? I am thinking maybe bringing some locarb tortillias w/ a baggie of lowfat cheese and making chicken soft tacos......seems doable.

Answer:

I think if you ate meats (burgers, brats, dogs) without the bun, you would save yourself a bunch of calories. Those buns add up during the day.

Answer:

Of course, I had already planned on cutting out the breads. In fact I have cut out most bread for months now and most likely haven't had white bread in a year or so

Answer:

haha. hell yea. beer, wings, and pizza! (go bengals)
