In all seriousness.. Welcome to the Army.. PM me if you have any questions.. I can give you the info, or point you in the right direction..

Answer:

Why didn't you punch him in the face? Your suppost to be a soldier. Don't take crap from nobody.

Answer:

Just be glad you joined the Army, there are more oppurtunities through the Army that will translate into the civilian world. (This comes from the son of a ret. Army Colonel.)

Answer:

dont worry he is just jealous

Answer:

I know a few guys like that, just signed up because they felt tough and wanted to kill them some ayrabs, but don't have the depth of dedication or patriotism or sense of duty that i have witnessed in marines i respect. plus he hasn't even done anything yet, i've noticed that most of the people who have misrepresented the marines are those who just signed up and are feeling tough, and those who get put through the ringer dont have a need to

Answer:

Mad??
lol nah im not mad? why would i be mad for him making the bad decision of going into the marines thinkign hes badazz?
and you all are right, he was picked on alot lol, i rember in middle school he got sent to the alternative school cause the football players were bullying him around in the locker room so he pulled a knife on them.
HA!
ACUs look waay cooler than the shit the marines got.
And i realised from my recruiter that army guys really are ****ing badass, they just know how to keep their heads from blowing to huge porportions when around other people. Not saying all marines, but most.

Answer:

I known some good Marines and I've known some bad ones. I've known some good army guys and I've known some bad ones. The military can teach you a lot of things, pride, honor, respect, discipline, loyalty, courage, and a love of ones country. It shapes each individual differently and affects each differently. Its never the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dawg. Marines are specialized amphibious fighting force and their training is specialized as such. Army are your ground pounders we make our bread and butter on land, notice I say our. Once you get into the army/marines their is specialized training airborne, rangers, special forces, scuba, for marines force recon, sniper, etc. What you guys take from that training and make of yourselves is all up to you. A year from now when you both experience some S.E.E (Significant Emotional Events and you will) while in service to your country, if you both still feel the same way by all means beat the crap out of each other. Until then do what you have to, then gauge it on your own, I salute both of you for volunteering and good luck. You wanna talk shit to him, go airborne, real men do it from the sky.

i tried, i passed the physical and everything was good to go for the airborne, got to the liason and find out that they hadnt scheduled airborne school that far into the future(next june) so i settled for infantry and my recruiter(airborne infantry) said they ask if anyone wants to go airborne in basic and i can go then.

Answer:

I cant stand people that think they will automatically be a bad ass because they join the Marines. Its so pathetic and insecure.

What do yal lthink about guys like this? Marine recruiter told me the same thing.
Which is why I am now the King Of Battle. US Army Artillery, Hooah.
Oh, I'm also Airborne. Take that, Marine Bitches ;P

Answer:

Threadstarter,
Don't worry about that kid. Usually, that mentality will quickly dissipate once they gets to the Corps/Fleet. Once you are in, when it comes down to it, we all serving on the same side.
Also, keep in mind that some Marine recruiters instill that arrogance and boast in these young enlistees' minds when they join; it helps reinforce the youth's decision and motivation.
Good luck with your career man. Remember, it's what you make of it :).

Thats probably why hes riding the high horse, got fed so much bullshit( your gonna get the most pussy being a Marine, you can kick anyones ass, youre the next Chesty Puller, ex...) and took it to heart. That is why hes ragging on you.
Good job on your decision and I wish you good luck, im joining the Marines here pretty soon.
(not cause of the bullshit talk, personal reasons).

did i really? i mean they didnt have it as an option when i went, i even saw it.
but im extremely happy with infantry.
as long as i didnt get cannon crew member or some bullshit like that (no hate on job)
when i went to MEPS some dude was bitching cause he was disqualified for airborne so he didnt get his 15 grand bonus.
within a couple hours and hearing him whine really loud in the waiting area he got cannon crewmember with 24 grand.
