Digital Artwork
Hey ive been working on this thing for a while now, spent about 45+hours on it (yes sad), Ive always been into art but this is the first time ive ever drew one fully on the computer.
I have been influenced by gigers work and ndagym from photochopz.com
The original size is 7500x7500 and it is 600mb i hope to finish it within the next few weeks and print it out and put it in my bedroom, The size of it is 100"x100" without being blown up :)
What else you think i should add, more pipes? thanks
Alex
EDIT: just to make sure i have not finished this, Just a progress picture!
wow thats pretty crazy, i'm not artistically inclined at all but I can definately appreciate the ammount of work you put into that.
I don't like the color of the brain.
The composition is off, your eyes are drawn to the bottom left corner.
I don't like the color of the brain.
The composition is off, your eyes are drawn to the bottom left corner. yeah i played around with it for a while, too light didnt stand out, too dark looked weird. I want it to stand out and that is what im focusing the project around.
I want it to come accross as in a baby born into modern technology or something surreal
and thats because i havent finished it
all edges are to straight and crisp, just sayin....
all edges are to straight and crisp, just sayin.... so add more noise to it#?
You really shouldn't mention that site on here ;]
Nice pic nontheless
yeah i hear there was a hy000ge falling out with them because bb.com banned some of the long higher rep powers members.
Anyway just saying, i like them theyre helpful :)
Is that more or less based on another image? It looks familiar...except with an alien looking creature in the middle instead of a human fetus.
I think the gears in the lower left are too bright
is that a pressure gauge and the tube going into the baby's mouth? If it is, make it a little more clear by brightening up the pipe
I might take out the stone design in the background and replace it with steel to keep with the modern technology feel
does the brain represent anything? Nice job making it look like it's in the baby's head
all IMO
not to take anything away from the picture and other miscers, but you can probably get some better responses if you post this on either deviantart or www.sijun.com.
I like the overall idea of the picture and where you're going with it...but something about it doesnt strike me as dirty enough. the background is kinda flat and too clean. some of the pipes look really great being corroded and oxidized, good job with that. those gears in the bottom left are bugging me with looking like their fresh off the assembly line. i'm not sure if it's the size of the image but there's also a slight edge around the baby's elgs...like a halo almost that is distracting. one more note...some of the pipes dont like 3 dimensional...they're shaded on one side or edge only...and really with your light source coming directly from 'where we are' (viewer), the light should be hitting those pipes in the middle too.
if you need clarification on that last part if i wasnt making sense...take a flashlight in your basement or someplace with a cyclindrical object that's dark, and shine the light directly on the surface of it and as it rounds, the light doesnt hit it anymore and that's where the shadows come from.
good luck with the piece and dont forget to post the final image. (yes art major)
Is that more or less based on another image? It looks familiar...except with an alien looking creature in the middle instead of a human fetus. Yes do a search for NDAGYM on photochopz.com thats what i got the idea from original, he inspired me then i dreamt the final product of this. Had another one that dream with a skull and cross bones with pipes coming out of the eyes etc.

all IMO I wanted to also give the baby kidneys, ribs, lungs maybe i created this into the image so it is a way of making the baby look weak and not independant.

good luck with the piece and dont forget to post the final image. (yes art major) X2!!! thats why i posted it here, in the misc. Because i knew 90% of you are all harsh bastards trying to make people feel bad. (strong critism, which is what i needed)
Yes some of the pipes are a bit screwed up but im doing them again. Its the bottom ones and the top left huh.
Whats your art major in?
Dont have a basement, we have a "wine cellar" (lol jk)
The only way i thought i could get it grimey enough was making it dark, but then if its too dark it loses detail and makes it look lame. The background is only temporary as it was plain black before and that meant that i couldnt see the shadows and it looked semi interesting. I was going for a chrome background but i didnt know if it would have been too much metalalic or not. If you could find an image that you think would look good as a background then please post and i will try and recreate it in photoshop.
Thanks again all,
Alex

Ive been a member over at sijun for years. It would be a horrible place to get a critique as most of the members there are more into digital painting. Deviantart would be a good place though.

Alex my major was in graphic design but my school didnt accept my radical ways of portraying things, so i didnt make it into the main part of our program... and they were right doing that, so now i do metal and wood sculpture. when i graduate i plan on going back to digital media for full time work and hopefully start my own small time advertising business.
if i think of a good idea for the background i'll pm you the stuff i'm thinking but it's not coming to me...keep up the good work.
You really shouldn't mention that site on here ;]
Nice pic nontheless Why? I know that site...
Is that its penis coming out under its legs? (serious)

One of the lads on photochopz.com said that a old concrete wall with paint peeling and stuff would look cool, i think that could lighten it up and also increase in grime.
where's the umbillical cord?
where's the umbillical cord? Yeah was going to do that in a lightish pink colour at the end so it is easier to change etc.
bump
nice pic you should check out www.conceptart.org if your interested in this stuff, congrats on the 15 inchers :D
Really good work. I'd agree about the wall though, that needs to be slightly older looking and more dirty/ rusty to blend in with the rest of the image.
