Not to sure where to start

Not to sure where to start
I Googled "weight loss stories" yesterday and ended up reading about the Transformation of the Week here on bb.com. I was inspired to say the least, and now I would like to make this journey myself as well. I have been on the Atkins diet and made it through induction. I have had no sugar or sugar substitutes, quit smoking, and somehow found it in me to lay off the energy drinks which have been a staple in my diet for the last 2 years. Honestly I am unhappy with this diet. I am tired, way more than normal. I feel like my body is half dead if that makes any sense. It just sucks. I am glad I have broke my addiction to sugary garbage though. That was the hardest thing I have had to do.
So here is my question.......
I am considerably overweight, much like the man I read about in the ToW. He mentioned something about low GI foods for his diet. I am curious as to what percentages I would need to lose weight and be healthy. I have seen 40/30/30 alot....is this ok?
I am 27yr and approx 5'7" 310 pounds. Yes I know I have one foot in the grave and yes I know how large I am. This is not easy for me to put myself on the chopping block here with all of you who are in such great shape. I was hoping for some wisdom and encouragement.
As for workouts, not much. I have a double jogging stroller for my kids and I am capable of walking up to 2 hours a day. I do not have a gym membership and can not afford equipment. My fiance promised he would get me a gym membership by the end of the year so I am excited about that.
Other than all of that.....what can I do?
I am not asking anyone to hold my hand and all that but a point in the right direction would be much appretiated.
Thank you in advance to anyone who can offer me some advice.

Answer:

you are by no means on the chopping block. in this forum we are all supportive of one another and try to help each other out.
about how many calories are you comsuming a day?
i suppose your female becuase you said "he" so i would start by cutting back the calories, about 500 less than your daily requirement. you can google daily requirement or something and you'll find it. www.fitday.com helps me count calories a ton, i would sign up.
by changing your deit along and walking, you can easily start losing weight.
good luck

Answer:

I do not know my average caloric intake as I have been on the Atkins and had thought I was not supposed to keep track. I will start a fitday account and keep track now to see where I am at. Thank you.

Answer:

do a fitday for a few days, then copy and paste that chart on here for all 3 days in a new post(no lieing!!!!) and we'll help you futher.
