I have been reading about this diet and someone said that he could tell when he was in keto by the taste in his mouth and by the smell of his urine. My question is this, is the taste metallic like kind of like having a paperclip in your mouth.
That is a common sign for a lot of people that they are in ketosis. The one I watch for is a day spend peeing like a racehorse, followed by a sudden drop in weight.

Drink lots of water and your urine should be mostly clear. It is normally slightly more pungent on keto, but it shouldn't be enough to send you screaming from the bathroom.
Dilute urine is one reason ketostix often don't show readings.
