and those 1240 calories don't even include brown rice per your post.

Answer:

I once had a nutritionist tell me that he thought the worst possible food someone in the world could eat is kung pao chicken

Answer:

only chinese food i will eat is steamed chicken and steamed veggies, everything else seems crappy, most of the sauces and stuff is loaded with sugars

Answer:

I don't think you had to ask if you should cut it out lol.

Answer:

stop eating this meal man and start eating healthier....steamed veggies+steamed rice+steamed chicken are much muchhhh butter and are great for cutting. this meal is loaded with calories, and since its chinese i think it would definetly be loaded with sugar

Answer:

Not all Chinese food is loaded with sugar. Chinese food is actually a great way to sneak in a lot of kinds of foods. If you compare Oriental type foods compared to North American, Oriental dishes contain so many more veggies. I mean what dish can you get chicken, corn, egg plant, bell pepper, carrot, broccoli, and who knows what other vegetable in one dish? None that's what. You can't just buy Chinese food from the local restaurant. Obviously it's going to be bad. Would you go to a restaurant and eat their burger? Probably not but you would make one at home right? Exact same deal. Make your own food. Make your own Kung Pao Chicken. Making your own food is so much healthier. Here is a much much healthier version of Kung Pao Chicken and it serves 4 people and im sure there could be improvements:
* 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, 7 to 8 ounces each
* Marinade:
* 2 teaspoons soy sauce
* 2 teaspoons Chinese rice wine or dry sherry
* 1 teaspoon sesame oil
* 1 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
* Sauce:
* 2 tablespoons dark soy sauce
* 1 tablespoon Chinese rice wine or dry sherry
* 1 teaspoon splenda
* Other:
* 8 small dried red chili peppers
* 2 cloves garlic
* 2 green onions (spring onions, scallions)
* 4 tablespoons oil for stir-frying, or as needed
* 1 teaspoon Szechuan peppercorn, optional
* 1/2 cup peanuts or cashews
* a few drops sesame oil, optional

Answer:

With all the calories, fat and sodium this is definetly not a cut food. When cutting think fresh, whole foods without condiments! It pretty much rules out anything take out unless you can convince them to cook your food plain (no oil or butter or sauce of any kind).
Honestly, this meal isn't even something I'd eat on a cheat meal---so much fat!!!

Answer:

am talking about his version of this dish, not the one u prepare at home.
i always prepare all my food at home and i dont bother ordering or anything, but if i were to go out i would go out to a chinese restaurant coz of all the fat and sugar in it. btw i used to pig out on chinese when i was fat before and it tastes amazing.

Answer:

Yeah, I agree that authentic chinese is awesome...not so loaded with extras that destroy it in my opinion :) Steamed veggies, rice, seafood...good stuff!

Answer:

Thanks guys, Great feed back!
I should've known it tasted too good to be healthy.

Answer:

i only eat real chinese food because i am chinese...not that greasy american crap haha I went to Shanghai, and nothing there resembled the food in US Chinese restaurants :D

Answer:

Chinese food, as it is traditionally prepared and served in China, is very healthy. But the varieties sold in the U.S. are mostly over-fried and over-salted. They appeal, on root, to the things that drive people's tastebuds: high fat, high carb, high sodium.
I echo what everyone else has said: Focus on steamed vegtables, brown rice, and non-battered / deep fried meat dishes. It is not that the other Chinese take out dishes are completely incompatible with a body-building lifestyle, just that you have to really evaluate your intake, and with all things, do it in moderation.
Here are some links I had from a while back when I was looking into this very issue.... Some pretty surprising facts about the content of some favorite dishes.
