Overclocking Gurus - Reps for (good) help!

Overclocking Gurus - Reps for (good) help!
Ok, I'm putting together a HTPC.
The sole purpose of the machine will be to play back many different video formats, ranging from xvid all the way to VC-1 and everything in between (x264 h264 wmv-hd, etc). I will be hooking this up to either my projector system or my 37" hdtv in the bedroom.
Right now, I've got a pretty good setup using an ATX motherboard which I'm pairing w/ a 2160 Allendale which I know you can overclock the absolute shit out of.
However, I'm really looking for a strong MICRO-ATX motherboard that I can overclock as I want to put the system in a specific HTPC case which won't work w/ a full sized ATX board. I haven't seen many that are rated as good overclockers, and haven't read many promising reviews.
Anyone w/ experience with micro-atx motherboards that are overclockable?

Answer:

i have no experiance with overclocking o na micro atx board, and i dont know how much research you have done, the guys on this forum seem to be making some decent suggestions though

i dont know what you are looking to run, I noticed one guy mentioned an ASUS mobo, and I am currently using an ASUS and it is very easy to overclock the BIOS on the MOBO is set up to make it easy as pie to overlock

i really dont think you should overclock though especially if the sole purpose of the machine is just to play videos. It wont do much but maybe squeeze higher fps if your source(eg dvd) has it.
With mini-atx motherboards you have very limited chips and a weak everything as they are designed to be very small and will use very little electricity. Meaning they are not designed to be overclocked, which in simple terms means offering more electricity for it to run faster, and do not have any anti oversurge features.
The airflow in the small mini-atx case will even further increase the heat problem generated from overclocking.
Buy a ATX mobo if possible or make sure it is one good mini-atx.

You sure you wanna overclock an HTPC? People usually want their HTPCs silent and that really lowers your options.

Buy a ATX mobo if possible or make sure it is one good mini-atx. I've done some research, the two boards mentioned on the link above are good for overclocking. The case I'm putting it in is:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811292003
which has adequate cooling, especially for the sort of chip I'm putting in there. The allendale runs cool even overclocked.
The full-sized ATX board won't fit into this case.
I may not have to overclock the thing at all. Depending on how well the GPU handles decoding (so far, there are still some bugs w/ the haali splitter and x264 and hardware decoding, but it's being worked on, may be fixed by now), I may be able to leave the thing stock. I won't do more than necessary, but it'll be nice to see what it can acheive.

There are fans out there which are terrific (read: expensive, too) for airflow and are very quiet. Back when I was a fulltime integrator, we made some very quiet systems w/ quite good cooling.
