freaking trace carbs!!!!
freaking trace carbs!!!!
yes I know to watch them and what to watch for but... damn, thought I couuld play it cool and skimp around... nope!! 3 days trying to get back into keto after a big carb fest friday night... and I hadn't dropped water weight and was feeling pretty tired, so I decided to test the morning... not in keto... BAH... I always test positive in the morning by the way...
anyway, bye bye low carb tortillas, bye bye restaurant food and bye bye 5 servings of nuts in a day yesterday lmao :(
Many experiment around with foods that just simply aren't ideal for ketosis. When I was in your situation (3 days without any trace of ketones) all I ever heard was 'Ketostix don't work'.
I didn't really believe that, honestly. Although it makes logical sense that Ketostix should be a binary test - you are in or out, it doesn't make sense to simply discount them as non-functional.
Seriously, with the carbs you get from - say, cottage cheese; the carbs you get from cheese, some veggies (not always just fibrous carbs); etc etc, there is enough there to add up to your extremely low allowance. I aim for <20g per day although some claim <30g per day.
Make sure you're avoiding those sneaky foods like Tomatos and Carrots, that don't seem to have carbs until you look at the facts. Almonds add up too. They are best saved as a pocket snack when you can't have a meal.
If in doubt, try a couple of days of just eggs, salmon, rib steak and a bit of celery or spinach. Once you know you are in ketosis, you can see what works for you, and what you need to avoid.
