Physical Health - Spiritual Health
Just wondering if anyone here has experienced body-building as an activity that not only has contributed to physical healthy, but also spiritual, emotional, social health, etc.
I know for me that as I have gained confidence physically, it has made me more confident to stand for the right things and be a leader where I am. I was a pretty brainy, sedentary kid and I hated sports and everything athletic for a long time because I didn't think I could be good at them. I've realized that my training has shown that I am capable as athlete. Also, I've seen the need to repent of some of my wrong feelings about athletic people. Not all athletic guys are boneheaded jocks (just like not all intellectual people are deed). This has allowed me to be more open to a variety of different people, and has allowed my faith to shine through to more people through more ways of activity.
That's a bit of my story ... what about yours?

good poast man. Lifting gives me a chance to be alone, and just not worry about anything.

Answer:

Hm I gotta ask, how do you determine how "spiritually" healthy you are?
As for physical health, I'm not sure. I've grown more muscular, yes. I wish I can upload my avatar but it says I got banned. I'm very muscular. But I still get sick.

Sounds more like your mental health has been boosted, not your spiritual. Which would make sense, because working out is like rebooting your computer. It kinda gets everything running properly again.

Answer:

I've learned lessons that I think correllate one to the other. But, if anything, it was the other way around for me. I came off a deep dark depression after my mom died, finally got back on an even footing spiritually and realized I'd been stress-eating for about five years! I realized it was time to put the same effort into getting healthy physically as well because what I was doing to myself was truly sinful. But it works both ways. I've learned a lot about consistency, discipline, and my own shortcomings and potential.

Answer:

Determining Spiritual Health; Differentiating Types of Health
How does one determine spiritual health?
Good question. As a Christian, I determine spiritual health by evaluating bother personally and in the context of my community how I life out my faith in God through Jesus Christ.
How do others determine their spiritual health?
Also, some may consider my improvements merely mental rather than spiritual improvements. Fair enough. Yet my mental improvements led to improvements in my attitude and treatment of others. It led to ethical improvements. It led to deeper self-acceptance (rightly ordered self-love) and away from narcissism (wrongly ordered self-love). Therefore, even though my improvements may have been mental, they accorded with how I understand God's intentions for my relationship with Him and other people. That's why I also consider my improved body image connected with improved spiritual health.
I also consider the pursuit of wholistic health a spiritual pursuit. There are plenty of people with awesome bodies who lack a deep spiritual life, as well as folks who have a deep relationship with God but neglect their physical life. I think that people who strive for health in all areas of their life are tapping into a spiritual practice.
