full body training 3X a week- when to do HIIT?

full body training 3X a week- when to do HIIT?
I have been doing a pretty intense full body lifting circuit Mon/Wed/Fri, which of course hammers my legs. Last week I did HIIT Thurs & Sat. The more that I read, I'm finding out that they don't recommend HIIT the day after legs. I can't even begin to imagine doing HIIT after I lift, I am totally zonked by the end of my session, last Wed I skipped cardio all together after throwing up in my mouth when I finished my last set of DLs. (lovely, I know.)
I would like to perform HIIT twice a week, the further along I get, if I need to uptick my cardio/intensity I can do so.
When should I be HIIT-ing it up?

Answer:

Hey dude i'm about to start a 3x a week workout (mon wed fri)
What i'm gonna do is:
Mon- Workout a, 5 mile run
tuesday- HIIT
wednesday- workout b
thursday- HIIT
Friday- workout c, 5 mile run
but that's something that i've busted my ass for in able to be able to hack it
you might wanna mix your HIIT with some regular cardio like a 2 mile run or something..
if you want you can do your circuits mon/wed/fri and then just HIIT on tuesday and thurs?

Answer:

Dood i totally feel ya, i'm on a similar routine. I do fullbody mon, wed, fri as well. Sound like you're doing ripptoe. I do HIIT tue, thurs, sat and i'm still alive and getting good gain. If your body permits it(no pains), suck it up and go for it. take your glutamine and bcaa to help with recovery, get more sleep too(i need to practice what i freakin' preach). Good luck bro!
HIIT is a progressive thing, i took one of my buddies with me to the track and it was his first time doing HIIT and he could only do like 2 intervals ...when i first started that's all i could do too. Just build up your strength and endurance and the intensity and amounts of times you can do it will quickly follow.

Answer:

i should make mention that i am doing cardio on my lifting days, with the exception of last weds. i am mixing my cardio, 2 sessions of HIIT, 1 long session of LI and 2-3 sessions of 30 minutes of moderate intensity. I'm getting 5-6 total cardio workouts a week.
I feel okay doing HIIT after my full body routines, a little sore, but I had read a couple of articles which seemed to say NOT to do HIIT after a leg day.
I guess when you are doing full-body there really isn't much of a work around, eh?

I guess when you are doing full-body there really isn't much of a work around, eh? definately not since everyday u lift you do legs. The best advice i can think of is just listen to your body. If you have tightness and sharp pains, that's a clear signal that you need to switch something up. for example, I am taking a break off my mon-fri morning jumprope routine for a week simply because my left calf hurts alot when i do it. i don't want to, cause it helps with the fat burning but...you better listen to your body haha
