Sleep problems... What do you take? (Serious)
I know some people take some stuff before I go to bed. Any recommendations?
I'm just going to use it a few times to get my sleeping habit back in order.
melatonin
melatonin What is that exactly, and where can I get it? How should I use it?
Edit--NM I found it on BB.com. thanks

I'm just going to use it a few times to get my sleeping habit back in order. Fixed.
And I agree with the Melatonin. Good stuff.
NO, casein protein and a Calcium / Magnesium / Zinc supplementation also help, if you'd like to keep on keepin' on.
How long would you take the stuff? Just until your sleep habit is back in order?
How long would you take the stuff? Just until your sleep habit is back in order? Yes! It is possible to develop a dependency.
I use melatonin every single night, I don't get to sleep without it. ZMA makes my sleep more intense, but it does fvk all for actually getting me to sleep.
Wild Turkey, chilled.
Melatonin is great for resetting your circadian rhythm (when you travel and your body clock gets ****ed). Chronic use, however, is not good. There's a number of studies that show chronic use of melatonin messes with testosterone production and semen production in men.
IMHO, a *much* better alternative is ZMA. It's dirt cheap, it *works* and it can be used all the time if needed.
I've always had problems with sleep, and when I take ZMA I sleep like a baby.
I like NOW brand ZMA, but any of them should work. Whatever's cheap is what I usually grab...just take it about 30 minutes before your head hits the pillow.

I'm just going to use it a few times to get my sleeping habit back in order. benadryl... lol
but seriously, i just do some progressive relaxation exercises, starting from my toes working up, and i am usually asleep by the time i get up to my calves/ knees.
When I'm restless in bed, I fap.
I have to put in my 2 cents and agree with the melatonin. And to address the dependancy issue, I am pretty sure it's hard to develop a dependancy on melatonin. I think it says so on my bottle but there is some risk as with most things. When I was using it regularly, it helped me re-establish a regular sleep pattern after about a week of use. It was great.
I don't do this often, but when I have trouble sleeping I'll take 1 Tylenol PM. I used to take 2, but it would give me wierd dreams and when I would wake up I would feel like I drank 10 beers the night before. 1 Tylenol does the trick for me every time!
iwas just about to make a thread about this. I have been sleeping aweful and spend hours just moving around in bed. I thiunk i am going to get some ZMA i also heard that make you sleep good
fapadol
benadryl... lol
but seriously, i just do some progressive relaxation exercises, starting from my toes working up, and i am usually asleep by the time i get up to my calves/ knees. The Diphenhydramine (HCL) in Benadryl makes you sleepy, so if you're going to use that why not just get an OTC sleep aid which uses the same chemical.
Anyways I have tried OTC sleep aids before and they seem to help me fall asleep but doesn't help keep me asleep. Then I'm groggy the whole next day. IMO your sleep schedule won't be "good" until you have a few consecutive nights of solid natural sleep at a regular hour. In my experience medication doesn't help the problem, it just prolongs it and introduces side effects.
I agree with dietary suppliments to help sleep tho, and they have worked for me. There just won't be an instant effect as there is with a sleep aid, which knocks you out in 30 minutes, it might take a week to notice the effects.
Whatever the active ingredient in Tyloenol PM is...thake that...you will sleep.
However, yoru inability to fall asleep stems from a deeper problem. Like someone mentioned, try relaxation techniques.
Get yourself in the position that is most comfortable. Then start at your toes, and consciously force each muscle to relax. Then move on to the foot. Make all foot muscles relax. Next is the ankle, and leg. See those muslces in your mind. Watch them relax and lose their tension. Move this wave of relaxation all the way up to the neck. If you move your foot while doing this...start over at the beginning. Each and every movement makes it harder to fall asleep.
Finally, when you get to the head...relax everything. Your jaw and tongue can be quite clenched. Make sure EVERY MUSCLE is relaxed. Jaw, tongue, scalp, cheek, throat, eyes...and so on. There is a difference between closing your eyes, and closing your eyes TIGHT. RELAX ALL MUSCLES.
Once you get to this stage, you have to clear your mind. Let your mind clear completely. Do NOT think about what happened that day. You cannot change any of those events. Stop dwelling in the past. Also, do not let uncertainty in the future mess with your sleep. You must have a clear mind in order to fall asleep. An easy thing to do is simply keep repeating to yourself the number 1.
In your mind, you can visualize the number 1. Look at alarge number one in your mind. Anytime another thought tries to come into your mind...go back to the giant number 1. Then imagine smaller 1s. Keep repeating 1 over and over. Think about how solitary and individual that number is. It is just 1 afterall.
If after relaxing and NOT moving all your muscles...you keep repeating something simple like the number 1 in your thoughts...you should fall asleep in about 5 minutes. You will find yourself thinking about that days activities....and maybe even lamenting about all the work you ahve to do tomorrow. When you notice yourself doing this...go back to visualizing the number 1. Keep that thought in your head until you fall asleep.
In addition, when your mind wanders, and starts thinking about the shit you have to do tomorrow, you will likly start to stress a little. WHen this happens, you will probably clench your jaw, maybe push your tongue to a part of your mouth, and maybe even tighten up your throat.
All of these muscles must relax again before you can begin falling asleeep again.
First, you must relax the body, then you must clear the mind. Your body will quickly fall asleep when both of these tasks is completed for only a few minutes. Start breating like you would be if you were sleeping. Usually, you will want to take deep breaths through your nose. Deeply in, and then out again. If you take short breaths more often, that is not normal sleeping breathing. Get into the groove.
Or you can just take some drugs.
Nyquil
fapping and blowing your load is the best natrual sedative, fap it once or twice if you need too before bed without dehydrating urself and you'll sleep.
I don't need to take anything, I just go to sleep whenever I feel like going to sleep. If that means staying up for 3 days, then so be it.
melatonin...FTW
nyquil. makes u sleepy as hell
