O/T How do you cheer yourself up?
O/T How do you cheer yourself up?
Evening everyone
I'm on a rather large downer at the moment and I apologise in advance for this post! Everything is getting me down and I just wondered what people did to cheer themselves up.
Without going on too much of a self indulgant rant :violin: the main things pissing me off are:
* I'm not pregnant - and it seems that every female in the whole of Bristol is (and "oh, it wasn't planned"!!! ) Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled for my friends who have fallen pregnant but it's getting ridiculous. Over the last 6 weeks, I've been told of 13 friends who are with child! WTF! 13?!!! Before we were "trying" I don't think I knew one!!! :( And breathe..... :meditate:
* I'm still suffering really badly from insomnia and I just can't see a way out of it. It's been 8 weeks now and I'm losing the will to live :boohoo:
* My contract at work is about to come to an end and I really want to take it as a chance to change my career. However, I just don't know where to start and as I feel in complete limbo because I may, at some stage in the near future, become pregnant, it's not really the right time to be doing this anyway
* As posted on Puddy's thread, I'm a lardy cow and need to lose about half a stone :o
* I feel like my 96 year old grandma looks more radiant and youthful than me at the moment. I look like the back end of a bus! :aperbag:
Anyway, now I've got all that off my chest! :o Do you have any tips (aside from hard drugs) for cheering yourself up?
Thank you ladies - and apologies again!
ETA: Yikes! I didn't realise I was THAT pissed off!

:higgies: Sorry you are feeling down - I don't know what to say and I am rubbish at giving advice.
When it comes to cheering myself up I usually do one of three things:
1) A long hot soak in the bath and then smoother on some nice body lotion, do my nails put on a face pack etc
2) Buy some chocolate, a fashion mag have a cup of hot chocoalate and watch a good movie.
3) Buy a fab bag/shoes

Oh Toosh I really feel for you - fingers crossed you're posting gorgeous maternity outfits very soon.
The only thing that tends to get me down is work and when that's the case I throw myself into spending time with my friends, going out a lot and errrrrh getting battered  .
Since I broke up with Mr Mimi I've been manically happy (actually worried I'm a bit of a sociopath!!), but I've also been conscious of looking after myself and spending time with people who care about me.
Most of the other cheering up things seem to cost money - I love going out for cake or a greasy breakfast and sitting in a cafe with a magazine or book, shopping (obviously), buying beauty products and pampering myself and playing music constantly although Leonard Cohen or Radiohead are probably best avoided if you're feeling blue!!
Letting yourself get sucked into a good (not depressing book) is also great for escapism.
Hope you feel better soon - I'll try and think of some better ideas!

So when you find out, let me know!

aww bless you!
When im feeling shitty , i like to go shopping, cliche but it does the trick. I esp like buying a expensive and gorge pair of shoes and having a makeover at a counter and then treating myself to new beauty goodies. Then a nice night indulging in a lovely film( amelie) and pick and mix and maybe takeaway with a good friend.
Also find clearing out and sorting out very theraputic!
