Getting clothes altered - slight dilemma

Getting clothes altered - slight dilemma
I'm wondering whether or not I should get some of my skirts taken in a bit.
Last summer I lost about half a stone by walking everywhere and I definitely became slimmer on my lower half, because my skirts became looser. And then the weather got cold and wintery and I lost enthusiasm, and I put the weight back on again.
I started walking again about a month ago and I already feel a bit slimmer (although it could just be a more positive attitude). This year I have a better quality pedometer, but I just don't know what's going to happen in the winter.
The trouble is that when I wear skirts that are a tiny bit too big, I end up looking like one of those teenagers who deliberately has their underwear hanging out. Not a good look! But also, if I do have things taken in, I might put the weight back on in the winter and then they'll be too small.
I'm not bothered about my cheaper clothes - but I have a few expensive skirts from Coast that are really flattering when they're the right size.

Get a couple of them taken in. I'm in the same dilemma myself but I think if I get them taken in it will be an incentive to stay away from the fridge!!

Answers:

Maybe alter the lighter weight ones for the summer and keep the heavier weight ones as they are?
My wardrobe has a special "doesn't fit now/yet but f***ing well will" section

Answers:

What style are the skirts? Some are easier to alter than others, and some styles can be made adjustable (fastening with a selection of buttons or a slide fastener etc), or have hidden elastic on the inside of the back waistband? Can you wear belts with them?
My waistline fluctuates a bit, depending on the time of day :o so I rely on things generally fitting me, and undoing a button towards the end of the day

Answers:

Do the skirts have a structured waistband? If so, you could maybe have darts put in with the excess material fold sewn flat against the inside of the skirt, then should the need arise you can just unpick them.
