Top Shop Style Advisor
Top Shop Style Advisor
Has anyone used this service before? Does it actually cost anything or do they just hope you buy something?
Further onto my help needed thread, was thinking that this might be a good idea, as they will see what shape i am and know the kind of thing that will suit me, more so than i would know what would suit me.
Answers:
I haven't done it myself, but a friend has and she found it next to useless :(
I have one of the trinny and susanna books, and although none of the clothes are particulary 'fashionable', its a great guide to see what to wear for my shape etc.
TBH, I'd trust the opinions of this lot on here ;) much more than a TS advisor

oh yes i have a couple of their books, might dig themout. That is a shame they are useless, i just have no idea when it comes to clothes really. I am an odd shape, never can find anything to suit me, the petite stuff you see, is normally either too casual, or just not fasionable.

whats your shape? I bet its not that unusual, there are plenty of different shapes on the bag!!
From what I've hears, the style advisor is just a glorified SA, and will just pick up the stuff you like, and then you have a private dressing room, rather than actually tell you what suits you etc, but I could be wrong :o

In the topshop I worked in (a big one in glasgow) the advisor wasn't anyone specially trained or chosen specifically for the role due to personal qualities, she was just one of the managers who happened to fancy the job.
She would've known a good bit about fashion and trends because they're required to read up on that sort of stuff for each new trend that comes in, but it's al specifically topshop based and as you know it can be quite hit and miss. She'd bring customers anything that was new and try and sell it as Really Fashionable (If Not Now, Soon!) and would try and be honest about what did and didn't suit people, but generally I think 'oh that looks really good on you' was the auto-response.
Having seen it in action in one of the bigger stores, I wouldn't be interested in it myself. Stick to the bag ;)
