sorry to have to ask these question :o but I've never brought anything on ebay, only sold stuff!
* is it best to use something like 'just snipe' or similar in order to win an item, or do it manually?
* if I put in the maximum bid into the 'just snipe', would it go as far as that if no one else was bidding?
* I haven't got any funds in my paypal at the moment, and on the site it says it takes 5-7 working days to go into the account from my bank, so I'm guessing it would take even longer due to the bank holiday. Would it be wiser to pay by cheque, or is there a way round this?
Thanks :o feeling very naive!!

1. If you're gonna be at home the time the auction ends just bid last minute and win your item that way, otherwise what could happen is even though you've put in your max bid on say www.justsnipe.com there's a mad flurry of bidding at the end of an auction and you're outbid anyway. Depends how badly you want the item!
2. If nobody else bids then no, your max bid will not be th eprice you pay. It'll just be the next bid that would have been bid anyway.
i.e Starting bid £10, your max bid is say £15. Nobody else bids so you win the item at £10.50 - Geddit?
3.You can send a cheque or postal order - up to you. Just read the feedback and if you feel comfortable sending a cheque then cool/postal order then bid away. You could always explain the Paypal situation before bidding on an item to the seller so that they know the situation if youd prefer to wait and pay via Paypal. Most sellers would be understanding.

thanks CX! I'll be at home so I think I'll just stick with bidding myself. The seller doesn't have any feedback, so I tHink I'll do as you suggest, and email them my situation, as I'd prefer to pay by paypal.
Cheers :D

I never have any funds in my Paypal account, and have had no problems paying for things - it seems to go through immediately  I thought the transfer from your bank to paypal was immediate, as it always says 'completed' straightaway on my account status! And the seller must recieve the money straight away as I always get the items quickly, certainly doesn't take as long as 5-7 days. How confusing!
ETA - and I've not lost an auction yet by using Auction Sniper :D
