Personal Grooming - how important is it to you?
Personal Grooming - how important is it to you?
hello fashion baggers!
I have also posted in beauty but was suggested to be put on the fashion thread...
..is it really worth putting on them dangly earrings, long necklace, high heeled shoes, styled hair-doo, make-up, stylish clothes...
How do you groom yourselves up and do you think its worth it as I need some tips on getting started as I feel like Im beginning to look like a stone-age man

Its only really worth it if it makes you feel good about yourself. I like to look at least a bit "done" everyday just because it makes me feel better about myself, and to be honest if I see someone who clearly hasn't put any effort into their appearance I might be a little disapproving. That might sound vain but if you are paying attention to detail in your outfits, hair and makeup it seems quite likely this may translate into other areas of your life.
Saying that I do put a lot of effort into my clothes but I generally leave my hair to pretty much dry on its own with just a bit of smoothing balm in it and wear minimal makeup (bit of concealer, mascara, blusher and lipblam).

I suffer from depression and one of the first things that goes out of the window when I'm depressed is taking care of myself and my appearance. It's almost like I feel I'm not worth the effort. So I think it is very important and it certainly makes me feel better about myself.
I used to spend a lot of time on my hair - it's thick and curly and it used to take a lot of effort to get it to look good. But I have finally (after 33 years!) found a cut which suits me and doesn't require much styling. It just looks good.
I don't wear a lot of makeup, just mascara, lip gloss and a bit of bronzer to warm my pale skin up. I do use fake tan in the summer because I'm so pale I'm blue.
And I do like to dress well, I'm not the most fashionable chick, but I think I scrub up well for my age and size :D

I make sure my hair looks ok, straighten it. I don't hardly wear any make up in the day. Concealer if needed and mascara. If I'm going out at night I'd probably put some eyeshadow on too, but thats about all I don't feel comfortable with a lot of make up, and don't think I need full foundation.

I completely agree with this.
I don't dress up 'all out' everyday - dangy earrings, heels etc just isn't my style. But I do like to feel like I've made the effort in what I wear rather than just chucking on baggy shapeless clothes and mooching out. I wear light make up every day too, unless it's Sunday morning and I'm heading out to the carboots when I'm just too tired! But then I'm always back before 9 so no-one I know is likely to be up
