Ball dress and additions...

Ball dress and additions...
  Hi everyone
Haven't been around here for a while, but I hope you don't mind me asking for a bit of advice.
I have my summer ball on Friday night, and I have my dress and shoes (I think) ready. What I'm after is advice about hair and make-up, and accessories.
I have put some pictures below (hopefully).
This is the dress and shoes on together. I'm planning a sunbed tomorrow to hide the strap marks a little bit (whoops).
This is my hair (it's been tied up all day - it's not usually that rubbish :o ). It's quite fine, but I can put it up no problem. I'd prefer an up do, as the ball doesn't finish until 6.30 am, so I don't want to have to keep going off to sort it out.
And these are my shoes :throb:
They are slightly the wrong colour for my dress, but I don't think anyone will notice.
I'm going for classy, glamourous, maybe 40s/50s style?
Does anyone have any ideas/inspiration for accessories, hair and make-up?
Thanks :)

What colour are your eyes? For make up I would go for purply hues as it contrasts well with the green and will pick up your shoes. I have green eyes and violet / dark purple look great. I would say get yourself off to a mac counter and ask a member of staff to help you.
And as for hair how long is it? It looks just about shoulder length, I wouldn’t have it all back as IMO bare shoulders look nice with the tips of hair brushing across. You could try something like this (1st picture)

or curly but loose a la jess simpson when it was red or Marilyn Monroe
this one is my favourite http://gallery.hairboutique.com/details.asp?ID=7555 or curls up like this you could always have a few around your face.

Hi mimi, thanks for your reply!
I have blue eyes, so purple would probably work OK. I was thinking about that before, then wondered if a plainer look would be better? I might try some make-up out this afternoon, to try with the dress on.
I love both of those hair pictures! The first one is out, because I need my hair up, but the second one is definitely do-able.
Apart from I've forgotten my curling tongs this term ( ). Maybe I could curl it with plaits?
Oh, I've also got a cows lick underneath my fringe, so my fringe really needs to be forward (as in my pic). Awkward, moi?

Also, what do you think to a purple bag to match in that case?

Do you have GHD’s or any other hair straightners you can curl with those quite easily or borrow some?
Otherwise to get curls I would wash your hair and when its wet rather than brushing it through, run your fingers through it then as its drying spray it with a curling spray and twist it with your fingers and put the diffuser on your hair dryer. Once its dry it will be in random curls which with a handful of Kirby / hairgrips you can pin back to create a sort of messy look. Then leave a few around your face and have your fringe as it is.
As for the eyecolour, I would probably go for cooler (blue toned) shades so with purple maybe a sort of grey, taupe silver colours so it doesn’t compete. But as I’m not an expert and have green eyes so can only go off that I found this site that has some lovely pictures, I think the first one is lovely and she looks like she has a similar hair colour to you http://iamfashion.blogspot.com/2006/...ye-shadow.html
And you could get a matching bag but be careful of your jewellery if you go for purple it will start to look to matchy matchy.
