Slightly OT...ways of wearing your hair up in this heat!
Basically, I had my hair down when I went out yesterday and I MELTED. It has come to my attention that I really need to find a way of putting it up and keeping it off my face/neck, but the question is how?
Having my hair up usually looks really crap on me - I don't have a fringe, I have quite a rounded face (chubby cheeks!) and...well, I wouldn't say large features, but they're not petite anyway! And basically when I put my hair up I look like I've gone bald, or I'm a man. Nice.
Here's a pic of me: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...azulii/moi.jpg a couple of years ago. I look alright-ish with just a bit of hair off my face, like in the pic, but if you imagine the rest of my hair pulled back as well, you'll realise the problem! :p
So, what do you lot do with your hair in hot weather? Any ideas for what would suit me? I'd love to be able to wear scarves as hairbands to keep my hair back, as I love the look and have loads of really nice ones, but it just emphasises my moon-like face!
ETA: forgot to say, it's long (past my bra strap at the back), poker-straight and fine!

Lapiz I think you're gorgoeus and you'd suit wearing your hair up!
Ive got very similar hair to you and tbh Im not the greatest at hairstyles but I think a high bun would really suit you as well as just pulling your hair into a high pony and either wearing it like that or then tucking the ends into the elastic to keep it off your shoulders.
I cant work out headscalfs myself so cant advise on that- Id love to wear them though!

A messy affair on the side of your head as opposed to the back of your head would probably look quite nice. Buy a hair donut from boots and have a play around with it. That would also come in useful for the high bun that hazybabe suggested too
I have bunches/french plaited bunches sometimes too during the day when shopping and stuff which keeps your head cool too. Not one to be done on a night out though lol!

I've found having a fringe cut in and a few layers around the front has made my hair look so much better when wearing it up.
Only thing i can think of if you don't want to get it cut is a little quiff at the front. If you are worried about being chubby cheeked (you don't look it lady!) it will add some length to your face :)

Me too... well, I have a 'side' fringe at least, and I think it does add more girlieness around the face when you have your hair up.
I'm the same as you Lapis, I usually feel like a man when my hair's up too! I only have one way of doing it that I actually like. Basically, I put my hair into quite a medium-to-high ponytail then backcomb it a little bit to give it more volume. Then scrunch it all up into a big messy bun thing, and pin it randomly with loads of little kirby grips :) It never looks the same twice, so sometimes it looks crap but other times it will look really nice, and quite funky in a messy way.
I wish I had a pic to show you, cos I think that explanation was really rubbish
