O/T but noisy neighbours

O/T but noisy neighbours
Some tw@ts that live down the street have been playing their music loudly all day every day for about two weeks.
It always winds me up but today I feel utterly at the end of my tether, have a banging headache and feel like screaming!
I have the windows shut to try and block it out but can still hear it- right down to the lyrics (which given that it is hardcore rap and there are young children living on the street isn't ideal) and in this heat I feel like I'm suffocating.
I know I should be brave and go round and ask them to turn it down, but they are rude and aggressive and scare me! I've looked on the council website and there is an online form to report noisy neighbours. I have to give my details though and I'm worried that if I report it there'll be a price to pay.... we're already known as the 'posh' ones on the street and get dirty looks and comments made.
Does anybody have any experience of how the council deals with complaints and whether I can report anonymously?
I realise I sound about 80 years old and a complete wuss, but I work from home so have to put up with it every day and it is driving me

I had the same problem with my downstairs neighbour when I flatshared with a friend. We used to just play our own music even louder when theirs went off and they got the hint soon enough.
If you are trying to work I would just go and knock. Get someone to go with you if you dont want to do it alone. One thing I would say is that politeness will not get you anywhere with people like this. Dont be rude but be firm.

If you are moving soon i'd just grin and bear it but if not report them.
If there's one thing i can't stand it's noisy neighbours. Yeah play your music but don't have the bass thumping so the next street can hear  (This coming from someone who loves their bass).
A few days back someone a few STREETS away must have been having a party and i could hear the base, it was still going at 3.30am. If i knew where it was coming from i would have reported them for noise pollution.

That's rubbish shiny! It's horrid when they're intimidating too. We live in a résidence (several building round some courtyards behind a gate if you get me) and I often get woken up by kids screaming and playing football against our wall. It's a bit difficult as we're on the ground floor, but we can't even have a cat or eat outside because it might bother other people and I get really fed up with the screaming kids who are bothering me.
Sorry am not normally so anti-children

I work for a local council shiny although not in that dept. I do however work in the web team and receive all sorts of complaints via the website.
It might be worth emailing your problem via their website and saying how you would like to remain annonymous due to any backlash it may cause and see what happens then?
