Jeans alternative?
Jeans alternative?
Hello. This is my first post in fashion, so please be gentle with me :)
My jeans have recently started hurting me at the backs of my knees (think it's because I have poor circulation) and it means that I can't wear them for more than an hour at a time. I'm guessing it might have something to do with the thickness of denim because I can wear trousers for work all day.
I would love to find an alternative, but I don't have much of a clue about fashion so I don't know where to start :o At the moment I wear boot cut so I'm happy to take recommendations for different cuts to try, or for something completely different.
I usually wear my jeans dressed down for shopping and going to the pub and dressed up a bit more for nights out. Please inspire me what else I could wear (and where to shop would be helpful too!)

it's coming into the summer - so why not be brave and go for some nice skirts. dont know what dress size or shape you are if you could give me a clue I will have a wee browse of the net to find something to suit you. I'm guessing you arent very adventurous so showing too much legs is a no-no? maybe a 50's style big swishy number or something cut to calf length?

Hi Juggler, thanks for the quick reply.
You're right that I'm not very adventurous :) I always have ideas of nice skirts and girly dresses in my mind, but when I go shopping I tend to stick to the tried and trusted (I really need to be a bit braver!)
Size wise, I'm about 5'7 and approximately size 8-10. I don't mind showing a little bit of leg but not much above the knee, so I'm open to all suggestions.
Thanks for your help.

gawd - sounds like you have an ideal figure. tall and slim - you could probably carry off most styles TBH. pencil skirts would be great on you - however as they tend to stop right on the knee they could cause you some bother - might not be good to wear stuff too tight if you have circulation issues anyway. something like a 50's flouncy shape would be great dressed up or down. try Topshop or H&M for some nice cheap options. Jersey would be another great option for you - lots of movement and really comfortable - maybe even a nice wrap dress - there's loads around at the moment. Next is always good for classic wardrobe pieces. check the prom dress Netti has posted further down the fashion page.
finally get yourself a pair of Gauchos - wide legged jersey culottes - marks and sparks do a great pair - they are essential for pairing with flip flops all summer

I just bought some stripey hipster trousers from Topshop (recommended on here) and they're great, I finally don't HAVE to wear jeans at weekends!
It's the only trouser alternative to jeans I've ever found that doesn't make me feel like I'm in work clothes. They feel suitably casual, and being navy striped, they go with everything just like jeans do. And the material is lovely and comfy, I wore them to death when I went on holiday last week.
