What do folks wear to weddings...
.. as have been invited to properly attend my first, and have no idea what sort of thing is appropriate, esp colours (though I figure black's out, right? Last time I went to a wedding I was filming it, so had a very different set of priorities when choosing an outfit!)
I look awful in pastels, floral numbers, and was thinking of making a dress (ha!) in a fairly 50s style, or have the red and white dress below - but is it ok for a wedding? Am petite, about size 8 with not much waist definition (my main worry when wearing a dress with a waist seam!), with dark hair and eyes, and neutral/oriental skintone.
I have a great pair of dark teal wedges to wear, but if I can't find the right outfit to go with them, I'm a bit stuck (am already on a v.limited budget, hence the idea of making something!)

I think that dress would be lovely for a wedding.
I think that these days anything goes really as long as it's fairly smart and not totally black. My sister wore a black dress with a red jacket to my cousin's wedding and she didn't look out of place at all
Have fun at the wedding!

I went to a wedding last year and wore black trousers with a smart black and white vest top. I think it is ok to wear black as long as it isn’t head to toe.
Why not buy a nice black skirt or trousers and see if you can get (or make) a pretty feminine camisole style top to wear with it? There are some lovely girly tops out there that would be great for a wedding.
I have a wedding to go to at the end of June and I am stressing about what to wear too. I bought 2 dresses, one cream with a small floral pattern and one black and white but I can’t decide which one I like best.
I prefer the cream one but that means buying new shoes and a new jacket or cardigan to wear with it which means more cash, I need to keep the cost down to a minimum as I am pretty skint at the moment.
I bet I end up wearing the same as I wore last year, it’s a different group of people so none of them have seen the outfit before so I could get away with it, was kind of hoping I’d find a nice dress though

What I would wear would very much depend on the venue. I usually wear some sort of dress, but if it was a less posh venue, then I have worn a skirt & top instead.
I think a bit of black is ok - I recently wore a black & white dress to a wedding - I think the real problem is all white which can be seen as competing with the bride.
