Daily Mail Story 22nd May, Sewing Machines and doin it urself!!
OOH!! Daily Mail today gave me some new found inspiration, I have had a sewing machine in the back of my wardrobe and have not used in years, BUT Im gonna now!!
I bought the book from Amazon, apparently it tells you how to do all DIY and customizing without the need for patterns!!
Anybody DIY? LOL

I read that article today as well. Inspired me too actually, I'm looking for a dress for Mr Fudge's brothers wedding which he is being best man to and I can't find anything I like. Was considering making my own dress or altering a charity shop find.

I'm doing a Fashion & Design A-Level so I have to make clothing.. Which to be honest, puts me off making my own clothes for normal wear..
Maybe I'll start doing it more when I have time!!
I do, do a lot of customising though!!

my daughter does ballroom dancing and one basic dress can cost up to £200, and they need 3 dresses for each season, that encouraged me to start dressmaking...!! Her dresses are now of a beautiful standard, everyone admires them and I often get asked to make for other children, but life's too short isnt it!
I dont bother making day wear for myself because by the time you buy the fabric and the bits and bobs (and take into account the time it eats up)! it makes more sense to buy things. I love making posh gowns though!
When i was a teenager I used to make loads of stuff. Me and my mates thought we were "the specials" and used to make black and white check mini skirts and all things "mod"... they werent much cop - but we thought we looked the business!
There is a massive sense of achievement though in having something that NOBODY else has. If i was to offer advice to anyone starting off I would say start small, perhaps with a pattern marked as easy sew, and be patient with yourself!

After the nightdress case I made at Primary school I think I will leave the dressmaking to people who don’t sew things on inside out and round the wrong way :) ;)
