Wedding Wear
Wedding Wear
I need some advice as to what to wear to a registry office wedding in July.
I don't know the couple, they are friends of my parents, but I have been invited along with them.
The reception is in their house, they're having a marquee (sp?) in the garden.
I really don't have a clue as to what to go in because a) I don't know the couple. b) I have only ever been to church weddings. c) The reception isn't at a venue.
Any ideas girls??

Presumably there hasn't been a dresscode specified on the invite?
I would probably treat it pretty much like most other weddings & wear a summery dress or skirt, but maybe with lower heel shoes if you are going to be in the garden. Even though its not in a church or venue, it is still their 'big day' so I think it is better to be over-dressed than under-dressed.
Wouldn't bother with a hat though, although I've not seen anyone under 50 in a hat at a wedding recently.

Because it's at a registry office, i don't really think you'd be expected to wear a dress... that's usually reserved for the bride isn't it?
I would go for a pretty summery skirt and plain tshirt with a matchingish pashmina and nice flats?

You're right that it probably wouldn't be expected to wear a dress - I just always end up using any wedding as an excuse to buy a dress. A nice Monsoon-eque skirt would be good I think.

I can't do a pashmina, I am not 80 :p
Plus I am only short, and it would just look...no.
I am thinking of a summery dress, nothing fancy though, just something pretty with little sandals.
Heck I wear summery dresses all the time, so I'm sure I can wear one in a reg office?
