O/T Formentera and Ibiza reccs
  Hello chicas,
This is off topic, but I know that lots of you have been to Ibiza, and Mimicat, I seem to remember you going to Formentera? Sorry if I've totally made that up!
Anyway, I was after some hotel/guesthouse recommendations as me and the boy are thinking of going there for a week in the summer. Most probably to Formentera, but maybe with a couple of nights in Ibiza. We've never been to either...
So. I am totally not club 18-30 style, so would be looking for somewhere laid-back, lovely and chic! Oh and not wildly expensive either. Not asking for much am I!
If anyone can help, that would be lovely... and any other tips would be very welcome too!
thank you
nixy xx

Hi Nixy,
I've never been Formentera but always fancied it, it's meant to be more chilled and hedonistic than Ibiza. I love Ibiza though :D
I've stayed at loads of different apartments/hotels, there's loads more boutique type places now, last year I stayed at www.hotelesvive.com
Some people think it's a little poncy but I liked it and the staff are really friendly, the food great and the pool area really chilled out.
Pikes is really cool too. Have a look on here, it's a really handy website - www.ibiza-spotlight.com

Oooh haven't got any recommendations but sounds like a lovely holiday. Me and Mr K have already been to Mexico earlier this year but a chilled out week or two in Formentera sounds perfect, you can just get a boat over to Ibiza can't you, very tempting...

Ooh, I love Ibiza - have been about 14 times, for weekends and the occasional week.
On ibiza, depending on how much you want to spend, I would recommend Hostal La Torre at Cap Negret, run by a spanish family overlooking the sea. It's in a beautiful spot and really reasonable (about €60 a night). You need a car though, as it's about 30 mins from ibiza town. Talamanca is nice if you want to stay nearer Ibiza town - when we all go out for the opening parties in a few weekends time, we are staying on the beach at hostal talamanca, very basic, but fine and near everything.
If you want to spend a bit more, then there's always Pikes, where Club Tropicana was set, or Hotel Na Xamena, which is beautiful.
Don't have any formentera recs as have only ever been there for the day before, though planning on going to stay for a weekend in august, as am in a villa with 14 people for a week and will need to time to wind down I think.
Have lots of restaurant recs etc on ibiza if you need them too...

Hello,
LizzieB and I are probably going to Formentera for a couple of days to recover from our week in Ibiza in August. It is so beautiful and unspoilt, however I woud seriously recommend avoiding it during the big Italian summer holiday as it is totally over run and the idyllic beaches are covered in posing boys in tight hotpants and girlie sunglasses .
I will need to look in my giude book to see where I've stayed in the past - I remember rocking up without accomodation one year and only being able to get a room in what was basically a barn for our first night on the island!! But there are cute guest houses and you can cover the whole island in a day on bike.
In Ibiza I tend to stay in Ibiza town or Salinas - there's a very cute guest house there Hostal Sa Palmera wuth cute cheap rooms very close to the gorgeous beach and Sa Trincha. You should probably get a car if you stay there though as competition for taxis is fierce and there are only a couple of restaurants. I've also stayed in Benirras which is a kind of hippy paradise at the end of a very long windey road. I was doing a yoga course so stayed in the villa where the course was taking place, but there are apartments on the beach and as it's tough to get there there are not a lot of Brits or posey Itis!!
Any how hope you have a great time - I'll fish out my guide books and get back to you on Formentera.
Mimi x
